Joseph Paul Mollo
Joseph Paul Mollo, 85, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 24, 2026, in the home he built, and was reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife, Ann Marie. Growing up, Joe distinguished himself as an exceptional athlete at Chenango Forks High School. He quarterbacked the football team, played every position in baseball, and, in basketball, set the school record for most career points scored before the introduction of the three-point line-a record few have surpassed even since its adoption. Joe proudly served in the The United States Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps, one of four premier musical organizations of the United States Army. Members perform using musical instruments and wearing uniforms similar to those used by military musicians of the Continental Army during the American Revolution. It is the only unit of its kind in the United States' armed forces and is part of the 3rd U.S. Infantry ("The Old Guard"). The Fife and Drum Corps has been stationed at Fort Myer, Virginia, since its founding on February 23, 1960. During his military service, he also earned top honors as a member of the Army pistol team. In the late 1960s, Joe was the lead guitarist and vocalist for "Four Guys," a popular dance band throughout New York's Southern Tier. During one of those performances, he met the love of his life, Ann Marie Mollo. They married soon after and shared more than fifty years of devoted marriage. Joe later became a New York State archery and trap champion, and his expertise in both sports was widely respected. He was an accomplished outdoorsman, equally at home pursuing deer, turkey, upland game, and waterfowl. Fishing, too, was among his great passions-fish feared him. He was, in every sense, the ultimate outdoorsman.
Joe was a Master Carpenter who engaged in his craft as owner of Mollo Construction. He was talented and creative, evidence of which can be seen throughout the Southern Tier of New York and the Northern Tier of Pennsylvania.
Side by side, Joe and Ann Marie became born-again Christians and built a life grounded in faith, family, and love. Together they purchased a piece of land where they couldn't hear the neighbors mowing their lawns, and there he built the cedar home of his dreams. The house was never without a dog. Of all the many homes Joe helped build throughout New York's Southern Tier and Northeastern Pennsylvania, that cedar house-with its great stone fireplace-was his pride and joy.
Joe is survived by his children, Andrew and Lisa Mollo, and JoAnn and Philip Wieszczyk; his treasured grandsons, Mario Mollo and Paul Wieszczyk; his siblings, Beverly Mills, and Angelo and Mary Lou Mollo; many beloved nieces and nephews; and his two adoring long-haired dachshunds, Cannoli and Spumoni. He was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Minnie Mollo; his sister, Rose Mollo; brother-in-law, John Mills and his beloved wife, Ann Marie Mollo.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 pm, Monday, April 6, 2026 at the DeMunn Funeral Home, 36 Conklin Avenue, Binghamton with Pastor Bob Kadlecik officiating. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm. To forward condolences please visit www.demunn.com
