Was a great day for a parade. Weather was great, many smiles, and a lots of fun and noise.

The CSEA negotiating team completed another session with the state.

While the team continues to propose numerous contractual enhancements, this past session weighed in on safety and health issues with various state agencies. Significant concerns include DOT workers being “assaulted” through intrusions in work zones, safety related issues in NY state parks, assaults of our workers in OMH and OCFS and many other agencies where safety needs to be addressed. The state was receptive to many of the issues the team raised.

We are scheduled to be back with the State on both March 16 & 17, where your CSEA Team will continue to fight for the best contract that acknowledges the hard work and dedication CSEA members provide each and every day.

Today CSEA 449 and the Scholarship Committee hosted a tournament at Midway Lanes for our Scholarship Program. A lot of fun was had by all. Thanks to you all our Scholarship funds increased by over $1,000. Special shout out to Midway for their hospitality, the Scholarship Committee for all your hard work, the board for your help and contributions and to all the basket donors. Great job everyone. Until next year.

Any member can take any CSEA training as long as you meet the prerequisites. We encourage all our members to get active and take a class or two. An educated member is a strong member!

Your CSEA negotiating team just concluded another day of fighting for the best contract possible.

Since our last email, we have met with the State two times. We can report that your CSEA team has proposed numerous contractual enhancements to the State. We are also happy to report there has been positive dialog with the State on many of your Team’s proposals. The proposals are the very issues, topics, wants and needs as stated in your survey responses and provided to your team during the “listening tour” that team members conducted throughout the state.

While we can’t provide specific details, as all the conversations have been in the context of an overall agreement, these initial sessions have been positive so far.

We are scheduled to be back with the State on both February 25 & 26, where your CSEA Team will continue to fight for the best contract that acknowledges the hard work and dedication you provide each and every day.
