This picture was taken earlier at Wings of Hope 4 Mile Walk. The walk is sponsored by MHAST and the hope of this event is to create more awareness around the struggles of mental health, su***de and addiction. This is one of the butterflies that was released honoring a loved one who has been lost to su***de or addiction. Remember you are not alone. If you are struggling and need support, please reach out to the MHAST Warm Line at 607-240-7291 or to the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline via call or text at 988.

I know this is a delayed thank you, but I would like to thank Church in the Wild and all the volunteers who came out and made this meditation garden possible. Guest and Staff have both enjoyed the new garden. We at MHAST would like to thank you!!

Happy July!! We had a busy June at Our House and look forward to what July has in store. Last month guests and Our House team members planted a container garden and did some landscaping in the back yard as a wellness activity. We planted: peas, peppers, tomatoes, variety of lettuce, squash and a couple of other plants. The guests have been working hard keeping the garden going and have enjoyed watching the plants grow. I will post updates periodically on how the garden is doing.
Also, Sammy's tank was changed and for July I choose a patriotic theme due to Monday being 4th of July. Can you find Sammy in the one picture?

I would like to introduce our therapy fish Sammy. As you see Sammy's tank has evolved a few times. Sammy likes to hide. We here at Our House like to play where is Sammy hiding today. Starting this month Sammy's tank will have a theme and the theme will change every month. This month Sammy’s tank is in support of Pride Month. What will Sammy’s tank theme be for July? Any guesses?

About Us.

We are a peer-run, voluntary, short term Crisis Respite. Our mission is to provide Broome County residents 18 and older who are experiencing emotional distress with an alternative to hospitalization. Offering a beacon of hope for the community, we provide a nurturing, safe, and supportive home-like environment for those facing mental health challenges. Here, you are not alone, and can explore and improve your mental wellness with the support of our 24-hour, trained and NYS certified Peer Recovery Specialists on staff. Our unique perspective gives us a chance to really work with you, together as peers, to look at different ways of moving forward. We foster warmth, empathy, compassion, and empowerment, and view each of our guests as our priority. We offer a wide range of recovery oriented services, such as peer support, goal assessments, solution planning, self-advocacy education, self-help training, coping strategies, relaxation techniques, connections to community resources, support groups, and various wellness activities. We encourage a focus on wellness where people with a mental health diagnosis are no longer stigmatized. If you feel you would benefit from the support and services available at Our House, please contact us by phone at 607-771-8888 ext 350 to discuss arrangements. We also offer a Peer Support Line, operated 24/7, that you can reach at 607-240-7291.
