Today we celebrate a very special lady on her 87th birthday. Happy Birthday Donna!! 🎂🎉
She is someone who reminds all of us what it truly means to live each day with purpose and kindness. She never wastes a moment of the day if you see her, she’s usually working on a puzzle, crocheting, knitting, or creating another beautiful project with her hands.
But what truly makes her special is her heart. She is always thinking of others and spends her time making beautiful pictures and thoughtful creations to gift to others. Her generosity, warmth, and caring spirit brighten our home every single day.
Happy Birthday, Donna. May all your wishes come true!! ✨💕

Thank you to each and every one of you who sent a card. The ladies truly felt the love coming in from all over! While we didn’t receive one from every state, we heard from so many and were even blessed with cards from other countries.
We hope that everyone who participated enjoyed receiving a card in return as much as we enjoyed sending them. Last night, we took one final look at each card before packing them away, and our hearts were so full.

How Everything Happens for a Reason ❤️
Valentine’s Day has never meant a lot to me, because I was taught by my grandmother to live with love every single day. Love isn’t meant for just one special occasion. It’s something we should carry in our hearts and share daily. Because of that, I’ve never felt like I needed February 14th to remind me.
This year, when I saw others participating in Hearts Across America, I asked our residents if they would like to try to receive a card from every state. The decision was made that we would join the project.
Sixteen years ago, we received our DBA. But on February 14, 2011, our very first official resident moved in. That resident was my grandmother, Albert Doris. Her wish was simply to move back home and live the rest of her days in her own home. That wish is what brought Reasons Home of Open Hearts to life.
At the time, we believed we were just getting licensed to make her wish come true. Little did we know we would be blessed with so many incredible residents walking through these doors over the years. They all started as strangers, but quickly became family. Each one left a lasting mark,lessons, wisdom, laughter, tears, and a forever place in our hearts.
Over the last few days, as I’ve reflected on the past 15 years, I’ve marveled at how Hearts Across America filled this home with love on the very same day my grandmother came home and Reasons Home of Open Hearts officially opened.
Fifteen years later, the house is still filled with love just as she taught so many.
Everything truly happens for a reason. ❤️
It has been brought to my attention that some of those who have come through our doors in need of respite were not listed in the photo in this post. Everything I have said also stands true for them. They will forever hold a place in our hearts, and we are deeply grateful for the opportunity to have known them

From coast to coast, love is finding its way to us. Each card opened fills the room with smiles. The ladies are marking off the states and are enjoying seeing how far kindness can travel. With full hearts, they are preparing cards to send in return to everyone who has shared in this beautiful exchange of Valentine love.

Your days are brightened by bingo cards and puzzles, each one a small reminder of your joyful spirit. You show us that fun has no age limit, and that delight can be found in the simplest moments.
With the rosary always close at hand and a deep devotion to the Blessed Mother, you have shown us what it means to trust, to pray, and to have faith. In the short time we have had the joy of getting to know you, you have touched our hearts so deeply that we feel close enough to call you family. That, too, has been a true blessing, one I am grateful for every day.
And then there is your smile and your laughter, the kind that speaks a thousand words without saying a thing. In those moments, we see joy, resilience, kindness, and a lifetime of memories shining through. Your laughter reminds us that even after 96 years, there is still so much to be grateful for.
