Did you know that as of December 2010 in the State of Wisconsin it was made a Law that anyone practicing Massage Therapy is REQUIRED to be legally licensed as well as Nationally Licensed / Board Certified !!! Otherwise they can be fined HEAVILY AND those who have gotten caught have also faced jail time!
The National Board Certified approved curriculum that I have is the following ...720 hours of classroom instruction ( including Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, Kinesiology, Business Laws and Ethics, Massage Therapy & Bodywork Theory, Technique, Practice on other students, Clinical hours working on the public, CPR, First Aid, Additional course offerings , and course objectives). Taken and Passed College exam. Graduated July 21, 2006. Challenged the National Registry Exam which was 300 ( yes 300 ) questions about the human body and successfully passed it. Challenged the Wisconsin Board Exam and successfully passed it. 2026 I will be celebrating a successful 20 yrs . That means I have completed 10 licensure cycles ( every 2 yrs Massage Therapists need to be recertified). It is a requirement that in every licensure cycle 24 hrs of continuing education needs to be completed ( 3 of those 24 hrs have to be ethics and professionalism ). I always get more than 24 hrs to be safe. So that's easily over 300 hours of continuing education that I have completed just with Massage Therapy and Bodywork. ALL OF THIS AND Education, Licensing, and continuing education that I have successfully completed to become an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician.
So ALWAYS make sure the person you have working on you is licensed because only they have the knowledge to know how to help you without causing harm to you. Answer their questions honestly for the best results!
