At 6:30am this morning, the BFD responded to a woodland fire near the 2300 Block of 24th Street in Doyle Township. Upon arrival, the fire was rapidly brought under control. Ladysmith DNR also responded with their heavy unit and a ground crew. Fortunately, no structures were damaged. Approximately 3 acres of land were burned. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. DNR personnel will conduct mop-up operations for most of the day.

Veterans Day 🇺🇸
Today, we honor all who have served in the United States Armed Forces — past and present. We extend our deepest gratitude to those who have worn the uniform and selflessly defended our nation.

We also take this moment to recognize and thank the veterans who have served within the Birchwood Four Corners Emergency Services District, both past and present. Your continued dedication to service — from protecting our country to protecting our community — is deeply appreciated.

It’s been a busy few weeks at the Birchwood Four Corners Emergency Services District!

Our members have been hard at work enhancing their skills and strengthening community partnerships. Several members recently completed a three-day Public Information Officer training, while others attended a Trauma Conference in Rice Lake to further their emergency care knowledge.

We also had the privilege of hosting Embrace and the St Croix Valley Sexual Assault Response Team SART for an important educational session focused on supporting survivors and improving community response to interpersonal violence.

As daylight saving time comes to an end on Nov. 2, keep safety in mind!

✅ Test all smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in your home
✅ Replace batteries at least once a year
✅ Check the manufacture date on your alarms to see if they need to be replaced

This day serves as a national moment of gratitude for those who dedicate their lives to helping others and as a tribute to the fallen who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities.

It’s that time of year, daylight savings is this coming weekend!

Messaging around smoke alarms and batteries is more nuanced now that newer smoke alarms often feature 10-year batteries.

For those ending this weekend, change clocks and check batteries, only if needed. Test smoke alarms monthly.

🎃👻 Yesterday, our firefighters and EMTs joined in the fun at Trinity Lutheran’s annual Trunk or Treat!
We had a great time seeing all the costumes, handing out candy, and spending the afternoon with so many families from our community. Thank you to Trinity Lutheran Church for hosting another fantastic event! 🎃🧡

We were fortunate to host Birchwood School District students today for Fire Prevention Day! It’s always a great day when we can share fire safety tips, explore equipment, and help our youngest community members learn how to stay safe.
