🌬️ Struggling with shallow breathing, tightness in your chest, or feeling like you can’t quite “get a full breath”?
Your spine might be part of the story — and the phrenic nerve is the star of the show.
At Tri-County Chiropractic of Douglassville & Bird-in-Hand, we talk a lot about how the nervous system controls everything… and your breathing is no exception.
✨ Meet the Phrenic Nerve:
This important nerve starts in your neck (C3–C5) and sends the signals that tell your diaphragm — your main breathing muscle — how to move.
Think of it like the electrical wire from your brain to your lungs.
👉 When the upper neck isn’t moving well or there’s interference (stress, posture, old injuries, the “3 Ts”), that communication can get fuzzy.
And when the diaphragm isn’t getting a clear message, you may notice:
• Shallow breathing
• Tightness or shortness of breath
• Fatigue
• A sense of “air hunger”
• Poor stress tolerance
💆♂️ Chiropractic adjustments help restore proper motion and remove interference around those key nerves, allowing your diaphragm to work the way it’s designed to.
🧠 Better nerve flow = better breath = a calmer, more resilient you.
If you’ve been feeling like your breathing just isn’t what it used to be, we’d love to check the function of your upper neck and nervous system.
🌿 Your body was built to breathe deeply — sometimes it just needs the interference removed.
