In the lead up to Palate & Palette, we're spotlighting the talented chefs and artists who help make this one party you don't want to miss! First up, we're announcing the return of our Patron's Choice Award winners to this year's event!

Our first showcase highlight is for chef Neville Baay, the executive chef at El Barrio, a restaurant known for preparing multi-regional, Mexican-inspired cuisine from seasonally-sourced produce, gulf seafood, and humanely farm-raised meat. We can't wait to see what he's got cooking for this year's Palate & Palette!

We're also pleased to announce the return of artist Margaret Anne Lee! Margaret works with a variety of mediums, ranging from abstract painting to meticulous architectural drawings, and she skillfully captures both realistic and abstract floral compositions. We're looking forward to seeing what she creates at this year's big event!

Join us for Palate & Palette Thursday, April 23, at The Fennec. The next generation of Birmingham artists and chefs put their culinary and artistic talents on display at this one-of-a-kind event to raise funds to support the next generation of cancer researchers. A breakthrough in multiple myeloma treatment is bringing new hope to patients.

At the UAB O'Neal Cancer Center, Luciano Costa, M.D., Ph.D., led the groundbreaking MajesTEC-3 clinical trial, which found that a new two-drug immunotherapy approach can lead to deep, long-lasting remission for people living with Multiple Myeloma.

This innovative treatment strategy harnesses the immune system to target cancer cells more effectively, offering renewed optimism for patients and families facing this disease.

Clinical trials like MajesTEC-3 continue to shape the future of cancer care at UAB Medicine, bringing safer, more effective treatments closer to patients every day.

Our Story

The O'Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center at UAB is among the nation’s leading cancer research institutions and one of only 49 centers designated by the National Cancer Institute. Being routinely recognized as among the nation’s best means the citizens of Alabama have access to the latest therapies, cutting-edge clinical trials and the expertise needed to treat their cancer right in their own backyard.

From bench to bedside, the O'Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center is at the forefront of improving cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment, and scientists and clinician-scientists at UAB have pioneered advances in chemotherapy, surgery, radiotherapy, immunotherapy and nutrition. Our community outreach efforts reach vulnerable populations by providing the region with educational and prevention programs.

The O'Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center offers a full array of treatment options from multidisciplinary clinics filled with experts from across cancer fields to the latest state-of-the-art technology. The center is home to an outstanding faculty of 400 clinicians, scientists and clinician-scientists, many of whom are internationally and nationally recognized for their expertise in oncology. The O'Neal Cancer Center treats approximately 20,000 patients annually, with an estimated 5,000 new patients each year.
