With support from the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine Global Humanitarian Service Project Grant, our UAB Sports & Exercise Medicine fellows and Cahaba-UAB Highlands Family Medicine residents had the privilege of serving the community of Kumari, Nepal.🇳🇵

Over four days, the team provided hands-on clinical care, donated a portable point-of-care ultrasound, restocked the local pharmacy with essential medications and medical equipment, and delivered video-based musculoskeletal ultrasound training to support ongoing diagnostic and therapeutic care.

Alongside UAB Sports & Exercise Medicine fellows, Drs. Agatha Ambrozy and Alex Hanna, Cahaba residents, Drs. Charlton Nguyen and Shefa Suhaila, and Sports Medicine attendings, Drs. lan McKeag, Chris Grijalba, and Mark Carrasco, this experience was about more than medicine, it was about partnership, education, and learning from the Nepalese community while building sustainable care that lasts beyond our visit. 🌏🤝

From spine care to regenerative treatments and adaptive sports, Dale Colorado, DO, MPH, helps patients of all abilities stay active and doing what they love. He specializes in treating sports and muscle injuries, nerve and spine conditions, and caring for performers and adaptive athletes, using advanced imaging and non-surgical techniques to guide treatment.

Dr. Colorado serves as Chief of Sports & Exercise Medicine and Medical Director for Performing Arts Medicine within the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. He cares for UAB Athletics as a Team Physician and works with national teams including USA Boccia, USA Wheelchair Rugby, and USA Handball. He also serves as Assistant Dean for Student Experience at the Heersink School of Medicine.
