Join in the fun at the Regions Tradition Adaptive Golf Clinic on Friday, May 1! This event is part of the annual Regions Tradition charity golf tournament and will include a presentation from some of the best in the business, as well as a fun golf clinic on the driving range — no prior golf experience required. It was another great day at the Birmingham Crossplex fo the Lakeshore Typhoons! In Day 2️⃣ of the Carson Muir Cowgirl Classic, the Typhoons recorded 11 personal records, 11 Move United A times, 8 CanAm times, 5 Para Nationals times, and 1 Para Pan PAC time. Congrats on a great meet, Typhoons!

The Typhoons are back in the pool this weekend at the Birmingham Crossplex for the Carson Muir Cowgirl Classic. Day 1️⃣ resulted in 12 new personal records, 14 Move United A times, 6 Can Am times, 9 Para Nationals times, and 4 Para Pan Pacific Championship times! This will be the first time Lakeshore swimmers will compete at the Para Pan PACs, with Lily, Lucy, and Elizabeth qualifying. Congrats to all our athletes on a great first day, and good luck in Day 2️⃣!

This week, we welcomed representatives from Cawaco RC&D, as well as Sen. Jabo Waggoner Waggoner and Rep. David Faulkner, to Lakeshore to present the grant for our community gardening project. This project is part of our health promotion program, and has benefited our community in so many ways. Thank you, Cawaco RC&D for your partnership and support!

Last week, Lakeshore President & CEO John Kemp traveled to NYC to keynote the 10th anniversary of Voya Cares, a program by Voya dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities and their caregivers. He also got to participate Voya's Closing Bell ceremony at the New York Stock Exchange. We appreciate Voya's continued commitment to the disability community!

A championship to remember!

We want to give a huge thank you to all the athletes, coaches, referees, staff, sponsors & everyone else involved for such an exciting week of competition at the 2026 United States Wheelchair Rugby Association National Championships. We also want to give a special shoutout to our volunteers, who rose to the challenge to support such a huge event! We even had some volunteers and staff pull double duty, volunteering at both Nationals and Festa Italiana on Saturday. Members of Lakeshore's Community Health team travelled to Erie, PA last week for a site visit with our partners from Special Olympics International. We visited the Sight Center of Northwest Pennsylvania and Community Resources for Independence, Inc., who are working together to lead the pilot program of the newly adapted diabetes prevention program for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are grateful to these wonderful organizations for helping us lead the way toward access and inclusion in diabetes prevention programming!

Lakeshore Foundation is excited to host an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Course! Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive their lifeguard, CPR/AED and first aid certification valid for 2 years.
