November is National COPD Awareness Month, a chance to shine a light on COPD and support those affected by it.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a progressive condition that restricts airflow in the lungs, leading to symptoms like coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, and fatigue. While smoking is one of the biggest risk factors for developing COPD, people who have never smoked might also develop it. Currently, there are 16 million people in the US who have been diagnosed with COPD, but many more are living with it and do not know it, highlighting the critical importance of education and awareness.

Today is World Diabetes Day, a chance for us to educate our communities on diabetes and support those living with it.

Diabetes is a chronic condition that occurs when the body cannot use insulin properly to regulate blood sugar levels. Type 1 diabetes occurs when the body produces little to no insulin because the immune system attacks the cells that produce it. Type 2 diabetes, the most common type, occurs when the body produces insulin, but the cells do not respond well to it.

This year's focus for World Diabetes Day is "Diabetes and the Workplace," an effort to eliminate stigmas and discrimination in the workplace for those living with diabetes. To learn more about World Diabetes Day and how you can show your support, visit https://pulse.ly/qmw78clnja

Today, we celebrate Lashana, Clinical Manager at Aveanna Home Health - Cobb and proud U.S. Air Force veteran.

Lashana served in the Air Force for two years. "I come from a big military family," she shares. "I wanted to do something that allowed me to serve others in the greatest way possible."

Her military experience taught Lashana discipline, perseverance, and the importance of embracing diverse perspectives. These lessons still guide her today as she leads her team to provide the best possible outcomes for our patients.

"My time in the military taught me to recognize the value in other people's perspectives," Lashana says. "We don't all see or process a situation through the same lens. I choose to see that as an area of opportunity and learning to allow the entire team to come together for the best possible outcomes and for the good of our patients."

Thank you, Lashana, for continuing your mission of service with Aveanna. We are proud to work alongside you and celebrate you and all our this !

As we celebrate Home Care and Hospice Month this November, we recognize the incredible value of home-based care. Today, home care is more important than ever—providing patients with the dignity, comfort, and independence they deserve while delivering exceptional outcomes.

In Home Health, personalized care helps our geriatric patients regain their cherished independence. For pediatric patients, it means living and thriving surrounded by family instead of receiving life-sustaining care in a facility. In Hospice, our teams bring peace and comfort to families during life’s most challenging moments.

At Aveanna, our commitment to outcomes, innovation, and clinical quality remains unwavering. Our compassionate care makes a difference every day across the country—going door to door, to the homes of our patients, wherever home may be.

As we recognize Home Care and Hospice Month, we proudly celebrate our clinicians and employees who make an incredible difference in the lives of families and patients.
