2025 has brought growth across the UAB School of Nursing, supported by the efforts of faculty, staff, students, alumni and our community. Throughout the year, the School continued to advance its academic mission, expand research activity and strengthen its clinical impact. Commemorating the 75th Anniversary offered an opportunity to reflect on a longstanding tradition of leadership, innovation and service. Together, these achievements continue to carry the School forward as we enter the new year.

Accelerated Master's in Nursing Pathway graduate Taylor Bentley's journey began at Birmingham-Southern College, where she played volleyball as an outside hitter and majored in Health Sciences. In March 2024, when BSC announced its closure just before her senior year, she transferred to UAB, where she discovered that her passion for helping others would become her purpose.

Graduates of the MSN and DNP specialty tracks are prepared for advanced nursing practice in a variety of settings with populations of infants, children and adolescents. As advanced primary care specialists, Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioners assess, diagnose and manage commonly occurring episodic and chronic health problems while promoting health and wellness.

Meet Marcyon Nelson, our Student of the Month! Marcyon is from Montgomery, Alabama and graduated from the AMNP Pathway on Saturday. He has accepted a position in the Medical Patient Intervention Unit at the UAB Center for Psychiatric Medicine.

He shares, "My passion stems from a constant desire to learn and grow, both academically and personally, through the pursuit of higher education. I appreciate how the professors take the time to connect with students, offer guidance and provide valuable career advice. Their support truly extends beyond the classroom."
