Dr. Anderson attended the AAP Conference last weekend in Birmingham, and a major topic of conversation was the usage of tablets/ phones and screen time, especially in the clinical setting.

We are seeing a rise of screens being used to distract children and to pacify them in our office. Our doctors want to encourage parents to be present and to communicate with your child about their visit and possible procedures (vaccines, lab draws, physical exams) to best prepare them. No screen can replace a parent consoling them and explaining what is happening. Please keep your phone and tablet away while staff is working with your child. This also promotes the best and safest care we can give, by having your undivided attention and open lines of clear communication.

Thank you for your cooperation! We love our patients and want to give them the best experience possible in our office!

With an increase of Covid-19 cases circulating in our community, we wanted to make sure parents are up to date with current guidelines!

If your child has cold like symptoms, it is okay to monitor and treat them at home. Provide comfort measures and medication to help with fever, congestion, and cough. If your child is experiencing difficulty breathing, wheezing, or persistent/ worsening symptoms we recommend receiving medical attention. Please reach out to our office or our after hours nurse line with concerns!

When can your child return to school? There is no longer a standard quarantine period. It is recommended they return when fever free for 24 hours and symptoms are improving. They can return with a parent note, but if a school excuse is needed then they will need to be seen in our office.

Frequent hand washing is still the best prevention! We hope everyone stays healthy this back-to-school season, but Redmont is here to help if needed!
