Mothers' Milk Bank of Alabama The Mothers' Milk Bank of Alabama is a HMBANA designated human milk bank, helping to provide prematu Mothers' Milk Bank of Alabama FAQ:

1. How do I donate? Yes!

The first step to donation is to be screened. This includes a short interview, an application packet and a blood test, which is done at no cost to the mom. Fill out the form at https://www.mmbal.org/donate-milk/ to get started.

2. Can I donate if I am taking _______ medication? Possibly. Please contact us for specific instructions on if you are able to donate and how long you may have to wait after taking the medicine.

3. My baby is ____ months old. Can I still donate? We will accept milk from moms with any age child.

4. How much do I need to commit to donating? In order to cover the cost of the screening process, we ask that moms commit to donating 100 ounces, although it does not have to be at one time.

5. I'm not a breastfeeding mom. How can I help? Check out our website for ways to donate time and money.

For premature and medically fragile infants, human milk offers nutrition and protection. It helps prevent life-threatening complications, supports development, and gives babies a fighting chance when they need it most.

As Thanksgiving arrives, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our wonderful community. Your partnership, trust, and continued support mean the world to us.

Please note that our office will be closed on Thursday, November 27th, and Friday, November 28th, to allow our team to enjoy time with loved ones. We'll resume regular business hours on Monday.

After having her baby, Mary Kate Smith found herself with a little more milk than she needed and a big heart to give back.

On this Veterans Day, we’re taking a moment to reflect and say thank you. To all who have served and to the families who support them: your sacrifice, strength, and dedication mean more than words can express.

Today reminds us to slow down and recognize the everyday heroes who walk among us. If you’re a veteran or have one in your life, we hope today brings you the appreciation you so deeply deserve. Thank you for your service.

MMBAL donations has been a wonderful way I have felt like I could make a positive impact in the community helping babies and other mothers.
My second child refused to take a bottle, but I knew I needed to pump during work hours to keep up my supply. I heard of MMBAL from a friend who donated and thought that it would be a wonderful way to put this milk to good use. I loved the idea of being able to use my milk to help other moms and babies. Currently I have donated over 300oz from this time and I look forward to continuing to donate!
