Long flights and road trips can dry out more than your skin, they can take a toll on your eyes, too.

Here are a few easy ways to keep your vision comfortable while traveling:
1️⃣ Pack lubricating eye drops — cabin air and car vents can cause dryness.
2️⃣ Stay hydrated (your eyes need water, too!).
3️⃣ Take screen breaks — scrolling or watching movies nonstop can cause strain.
4️⃣ Don’t forget sunglasses — UV rays can still be strong through car or airplane windows.

If your eyes feel irritated or gritty after travel, artificial tears or a humidifier at home can help.

Where are you traveling this holiday season? ✈️

Eating the right foods can protect your vision and keep you healthy. Research says that foods rich in vitamins C and E, zinc, lutein, zeaxanthin, and omega-3 fatty acids are linked to lower risk for age-related macular degeneration (AMD), cataract and perhaps even dry eye later in life!

Your eyes age, too. Here’s how to protect them through every decade:

As you get older, your eyes go through natural changes, but regular checkups and small daily habits can help you see clearly for years to come:

👓 40s: Reading fine print starts feeling harder. Good lighting and routine exams make a big difference.
🌙 50s: Watch for dry eyes and night vision changes; these are common and treatable.
🩵 60s+: Stay alert for cataracts or age-related eye diseases. Early detection keeps vision strong!

Good vision doesn’t have an age limit. It just takes a little care along the way.

This week we’ve been celebrating Allied Ophthalmic Personnel (AOP) Week and recognizing the incredible work our ophthalmic technicians do every day.

Our AOA techs are efficient, skilled, and compassionate, and we couldn’t do what we do without them! 💙

This week’s celebration included:
🍬 Monday – candy bags
🍗 Tuesday – Chick-fil-A gift cards
🧳 Thursday – travel bags + new team t-shirts
🥗 Friday – lunch to celebrate our amazing techs

Pictured below are just a few of our incredible techs.

👁 November is Diabetic Eye Disease Awareness Month, and here’s what you should know:
Diabetes can quietly damage the small blood vessels in the back of your eye, a condition called diabetic retinopathy.

It often starts without symptoms, meaning you might not notice vision changes until the disease has already progressed.

The good news is that early detection and regular eye exams can prevent most vision loss caused by diabetes.

If you or someone you love manages diabetes, make eye care part of your routine!

It’s that time again, don’t forget to “fall back” this Sunday! ⏰

Set your clocks back one hour and enjoy a little extra sleep. 😴

Shorter days mean more night driving, so make sure your glasses and headlights are ready for the season ahead! 👓🌙
