Bushelon Funeral Home Inc "We Care For You & Your Loved Ones." Visit our website, BushelonFuneralHome.com What started out as a small, wood, white framed house now spans a city block.

At a very early age, Aubrey Bushelon had a vision of owning and operating his own funeral home. As an aggressive, hardworking, goal – oriented teenager, he knew that the opportunity that he was given to work at Poole’s Funeral Home on the weekend would help him realize his vision. He received an insurmountable amount of knowledge and experience from his mentors, the late founding owner, James Pool

e, and his sons John and Ernest. They took Aubrey under their wings because of his gentle spirit and willingness to work and learn. Aubrey was employed at McKesson Robins Wholesale Drugs and retired after 25 years of service. He then concentrated on his vision, and established Bushelon Funeral Home in 1975. He reached out to many, and was known for helping bury those who needed his assistance monetarily. Aubrey’s compassion for humanity and life’s work was dedicated to funeral service. He passed along his affinity to be of service to those in need to his family. Today, the torch continues as the Bushelon Family continues to “Care For You & Your Loved Ones”.

Grief does not end after the funeral.

The calls slow down.
The visits stop.
The food runs out.

But the grief? It stays.

So if you know someone who has lost a loved one, don’t just show up for the service… show up after.

Call them.
Check on them.
Say their loved one’s name.

Because love doesn’t end at the grave… and neither should support. 🖤

Saturday is the day our community gathers the most… a day filled with love, reflection, and final goodbyes. As we prepare to serve each family with the care, dignity, and excellence that has defined us for generations, we pause to acknowledge the weight of this moment.

Today, we ask you to keep in your prayers every family preparing to view their loved one one final time. That moment… it’s sacred. It’s emotional. It’s unforgettable.

We don’t take it lightly. Not one service. Not one family. Not one life.

As always, we are honored to walk this journey with you.

Good morning Birmingham 🖤
Thank you for the laughs yesterday 😭😂

While the internet is having fun, we want to reassure our community: The video circulating is AI generated and not real. Any mention of “the walking dead” stems from a humorous post shared yesterday.

What is real… is our continued commitment to serving families with dignity, professionalism, and care.

For 50 years, Bushelon Funeral Home has been a trusted name in Birmingham, and that will always remain our focus.

Y’all enjoy your day… and we’ll continue doing what we do best 🖤

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM BUSHELON FUNERAL HOME, INC.

To The Family,

We would like to extend our sincere apologies for any confusion or distress caused following yesterday’s service.

Please be assured that your Son was handled with the utmost care, dignity, and respect throughout the entire process. At Bushelon Funeral Home, we are a family serving families, and we remain committed to treating every loved one entrusted to us the same way we would want our own to be treated.

As we celebrate 50 years of serving this community, we take great pride in carrying the torch that our founder, Aubrey Bushelon, started. We are grounded in compassion, excellence, and trust.

We followed all instructions provided and carried out our services with professionalism and care.

However, despite our best efforts… the remains got up.

After further review, we have concluded that this was not a breach in protocol, but simply Resurrection Sunday.

We appreciate your understanding during this unprecedented occurrence.

Y’all be blessed 😂✝️

Today we pause to say THANK YOU to Official Funeral World for recognizing our very own Arlillian Kate Bushelon during Women’s History Month: Mortician Edition.

At Bushelon Funeral Home, funeral service is more than a profession — it is our family’s calling and legacy.

Founded in 1976 by the late Aubrey Bushelon, our funeral home has always been rooted in dignity, compassion, and service to the Birmingham community. Seeing the next generation of that legacy recognized on a national platform is both humbling and inspiring.

Kate grew up watching what it meant to serve families during their most difficult moments. Today, she continues that mission as Managing Director of Bushelon Funeral Home while also working to strengthen the profession through leadership, mentorship, and advocacy.

From caring for families with compassion…
to leading conversations that move the funeral profession forward…
to investing in the Birmingham community…

Her work reflects the very heart of what funeral service is meant to be.

We are proud of the woman she is, the leader she continues to become, and the legacy she carries forward.

Thank you again to Official Funeral World for highlighting women who are shaping the future of funeral service.

And to every family that has trusted Bushelon Funeral Home for the past 50 years… we remain honored to serve.
