Spotlight time! Thank you for everything you have done and continue to do for MCWC. We could not do it without you Lake!
Lake Klamert is a trans nonbinary member of the LGBTQ+ community who started at MCWC working at the front desk and now serves as Healthcare Coordinator. They work closely with patients seeking gender-affirming care, those who are HIV+, and all of Dr. Weisberg’s patients to ensure they receive the best possible care. Lake also coordinates for the counseling staff to schedule new patient intakes and assist with other administrative tasks. They attended the University of Mississippi for early college and went to UAB before taking a break. Their work history includes a variety of jobs from hospitality and billing to freelance creative projects and nonprofit animal welfare. Thanks to the support and encouragement of their friend and mentor Dr. Weisberg, Lake is now taking open-source courses and is on track to return to university to pursue their doctorate in psychology. They hope to specialize with trauma patients, helping people with complex internal difficulties heal and build the life they deserve.
Lake’s personal motto is “be the person you always needed when you were younger.” They firmly believe that everyone should have access to safe, affirming, and accessible healthcare.
Outside of MCWC, they describe themselves as a “lazy busybody.” They are passionate about advocacy and dedicate much of their free time to helping others by facilitating online peer support groups for fellow survivors of sexual and domestic violence, along with regularly providing donations to the local unhoused community. They also run a small handmade arts-and-goodies business, enjoy reading, practicing yin yoga, and baking. Lake lives with their ESA cat, Nymeria, and is married to their longtime partner and best friend, Luca. Their wedding was officiated by MCWC’s nurse, Jamie, and the cake was provided by Dr. Weisberg. Most of their guests were fellow coworkers, who Lake considers family and treasures deeply.
