We had a wonderful Veterans Day program! 🇺🇸
A heartfelt thank you to our Stars and Stripes Committee and our Resident Services Department for working so hard to honor our veterans. We are grateful to everyone who helped make the program meaningful and memorable.
We were honored to have Lt. j.g. Bob Batson, U.S. Navy, preside over the ceremony, with a prayer offered by CDR George Harbour, U.S. Navy (Ret). The City of Hoover Fire Department Honor Guard presented the colors, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by COL Jack Ferrick, U.S. Army (Ret).
Capt Ron Friday, U.S. Air Force, performed The Star-Spangled Banner and later led the service songs, accompanied by Jerry Bullock on the piano. LTC Marvin Chandler, U.S. Army (Ret), delivered an inspiring “Generations of Freedom” message after being warmly introduced by Anne Hartline, the surviving spouse of COL James Hartline, U.S. Army (Ret).
A very special moment was the Quilt of Valor presentation to CPL Jack Lee, U.S. Marine Corps, WWII, presented by Mrs. Helen Lee Fisk and Sally Shepard.
We also enjoyed a special presentation from Westminster School at Oak Mountain by Mrs. Callie Wolf. Her class wrote heartfelt letters to all of our veterans and surviving spouses, which made the day even more meaningful.
Thank you again to everyone who contributed — and to our veterans, we honor you today and always. 🇺🇸
