Thankful for this life. These gifts. This voice. This legacy.

I woke up feeling inspired and hopeful. I wish the same for you.

Don’t mind me. Just reminiscing over family photos through the years. Time waits for no man.

Happy Thanksgiving. 🍁

Welcome to the practice — Architectural Digest, but make it dermatology. A rapid-fire tour, a few hot-seat questions… and maybe one controversial opinion.

And I was reminded of the funniest thing to ever happen in this office. A new mom came in at seven weeks postpartum to get her Botox. When I told her that I was happy but surprised to see her she exclaimed, “I had to get the f* outta there!”

Hands down best line ever uttered at Skin Wellness. You know who you are! 😂

Midface Filler Clinical Trial

We are enrolling for a midface filler trial at Skiin Wellness, but this is not an ordinary HA filler. This is a new product category in the US that combines a hydronic acid filler for immediate lifting and volume loss correction AND a biostimulatory product that tells your own fibroblasts to create more collagen and elastin.

If you are a man or woman at least 22 years old that’s started to notice sagging in the midface please let us know. We would love to enroll you, provide free treatment and compensate you for your time. To get a link to the enrollment questionnaire, please send an email to research@skinwellness.com and send this to any friends who may also be interested.

This week I had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Autumn Saizan, Chief Resident at Johns Hopkins University Department of Dermatology for a rotation.

All of my mentees and rotators are special in their own right but this one hits a little different. Not only is Dr. Saizan a native New Orleanian ⚜️, but she’s also the daughter of my high school friend, Lenny Saizan. This is a full circle moment for me. ⭕️

Every chance I get, I tell whoever will listen about the impact that New Orleans legend, Dr. Errol Quintal had on me and my life as a dermatologist so to be able to share that story, a little history about dermatology and clinical/career advice with Autumn whose family I’ve known for the majority of my life was very special.

Honestly, moments like these remind me of why I pursued this dream in the first place and help keep me grounded and focused on the important things.

Slow, steady, consistent cosmetic treatments delivered over time keep you looking and feeling like yourself. That’s why a relationship between doctor and patient is so important. To plan, preserve and honor the essence of you.

At home devices have a roll for sure. But they can’t touch the levels we achieve with in-office procedures.

And microneedljng stills sits atop the benefit-for-cost pyramid.

This is the closest I’m getting to a costume this year. Mask and tuxedo. All to celebrate 50 years of excellence in education at The Altamont School with friends.

Altamont merged the all boys Birmingham University School (founded in 1922) and the all girls Brooke Hill School (1940) in 1976 and the legacy continues.

Have you gotten up and moved today?!?

Everybody should do yoga, Pilates or tai chi as they mature. Keeps you flexible and able to get around and enjoy life.

One of favorite procedures with the highest patient satisfaction is PRF or Platelet Rich Fibrin. It’s related to PRP or Platelet Rich Plasma but takes it up a notch or two. We have tried every PRP system but prefer Selphyl (this is not a paid post) because of its durability, ease of use and efficacy. There is even the option to turn the fibrin matrix into a gel with can be used as an all natural alternative to HA fillers if the patient prefers. Our favorite location for this procedure is the eye area but we use it all over the face, neck and hands as well.

Thanks to Drs. Andrew Alexis and Eliot Battle for the invitation to return to the faculty of the Skin of Color Update in New York. Once I again, I teamed up with Dr. Noelani Gonzalez to do live injections of botulinum toxin and soft tissue fillers. This year we were a part of the cosmetic session that included outstanding talks on cosmeceuticals by Dr. Cheri Frey and chemical peels by Dr. Heather Woolery-Lloyd.

SOCU is always a great meeting where I enjoy teaching but also learn so much. See you all next year in NYC in October!
