Virginia Duncan, M.D., an associate professor in the Division of Women’s Health, is a co-author of a new study exploring how an immune switch called NFAT supports healthy pregnancy. The research shows that when NFAT is suppressed, fewer natural killer cells reach the uterus, a change linked to preeclampsia and early pregnancy failure.
