Mark Rogers, MD is a board-eligible orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, arthroscopy, joint replacement, and shoulder and elbow conditions. A native of Rome, Georgia, Dr. Rogers graduated Summa Cum Laude from Auburn University with a bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences. Dr. Rogers earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine, graduating Cum Laude and being inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He then completed his residency training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical Center where he served as Administrative Chief Resident. As chief resident, he received the Kurt Niemann Most Outstanding Resident Award and served at the American Orthopaedic Association Resident Leadership Forum. Dr. Rogers then completed the Sports Medicine/ Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship at OrthoCarolina in Charlotte, NC. He has served as a team physician for the Carolina Panthers (NFL) and the NFL Scouting Combine. He also served as a team physician for the Charlotte Knights (Triple-A Chicago White Sox), Charlotte Hounds (Major League Lacrosse), University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Davidson College, Gardner-Webb University, Queens University, as well as a number of high school teams in Birmingham and Charlotte areas. His research has focused on refining surgical techniques in ACL reconstruction, cartilage restoration, meniscus repair, shoulder stabilization, rotator cuff repair, and shoulder replacement. Dr. Rogers specializes in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee. He performs joint replacements and joint preservation surgeries of the knee including cartilage restoration and ligament reconstruction.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many hospitals have postponed elective orthopaedic surgeries to help ensure that resources are available for severely ill patients who may need them. This article describes some things you can do to help alleviate painful symptoms until your surgery can be rescheduled.
