The event will begin with a walk at Kelly Ingram Park, followed by a panel discussion featuring community leaders, moderated by Emmy Award-Winning news anchor, Sherri Jackson, CBS 42 News.

The Birmingham Black Nurses Association Inc. had two more great events this past Saturday serving the Birmingham community.

Dr. Lindsey Harris was at New Life Interfaith Baptist Church where 165 food boxes were given out to the community.

Dr. Theresa Rodgers, BBNA President, and Yolanda Ryce were at Railroad Park as volunteers for the Men’s Wellness…Get Checked Out before You Get Checked-In Event.

The Birmingham Black Nurses Association Inc. was today, serving the communities of Mt Canaan Full Gospel and at the South Side Housing Authority Health Fair in Bessemer.

BBNA provided health education and blood pressure screenings and demonstrated high-quality CPR. We truly had a great time!

In honor of Homecoming Week, we’re proud to recognize our 2025 Outstanding Young Alumna of the Year, Samantha Berrien ’16, D.N.P. ’25!

Samantha earned both her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice from Samford’s Moffett & Sanders School of Nursing. She currently serves as a skills lab educator at the UAB School of Nursing and founded Bright Rose, Inc., a nonprofit that provides psychological, academic, and mentoring support to nursing students in Alabama and surrounding states.

She also leads the mentorship program for the Birmingham Black Nurses Association and shares her expertise through state and national presentations on student success and well-being.

Congratulations, Samantha, and thank you for representing the Samford mission through your leadership and service. ❤️💙
