HPD’s Special Needs Notification Program

If you have a loved one with autism, Alzheimer's, dementia, or other invisible disabilities, this is something you NEED to know!

The Hoover Police Department offers a Special Needs Notification Program that allows you to share important information about your family member before an emergency happens.

👮‍♂️ When you call 911, dispatchers can alert first responders about things like:

• Sensory sensitivities (lights, sirens, noise)
• Communication challenges
• Fear or anxiety around strangers
• Helpful interests or calming techniques
• Any other important details
This helps responders approach the situation with understanding, keeping everyone safer and calmer.

📝 You can request a “notification flag” for your address by providing:

• Name & address
• Emergency contacts
• Key care information (VERY important!)

This part of the dance crew held out until the very last note had been played! We had a blast creating a playlist that had a little bit of everything. We heard new music, old school favorites and sang along to some of the greatest hits! 🎶 🪩 🎧
