Welcome to the Birmingham Direct Primary Care page. We are a family medicine clinic providing our patients with personalized primary care through a unique model of care called direct primary care. Our patients get unlimited visits, no co-pays or deductibles, convenient around-the-clock access to our physician (via phone, text, email or video chat), no-rush visits with our physician, minimal to no wait times, and same or next day appointments. Other benefits our patients enjoy include up to 95% savings on labs and wholesales discounted medications that we dispense in-house, free in-office procedures, and discounted self-pay imaging that we have arranged at local imaging centers. All this is provided for a low monthly membership fee at the cost of a cell phone bill! This is essentially concierge quality medical care at an affordable price!
How is this possible? It’s simple. We are able to provide this high quality personalized medical care that our patients love by having a monthly membership fee - like a gym membership - and not accepting insurance. This allows our physician to focus solely on the patient (not on charts or insurance codes) and spend the necessary time with the patients instead of taking them through an assembly line of 30-40 patients a day where each patient gets 7-10 minutes with the physician.
You can still keep your insurance; in fact, we recommend everyone to have at least a low monthly premium high deductible - a so called catastrophe insurance- for the unforeseen circumstances like hospitalizations. But there is no reason to use your insurance for most of your general day to day medical care. Do you use your car insurance for tire rotations and oil changes? Same concept applies here! Keep your medical insurance for the higher cost care and let our clinic take care of all of your primary care needs.
