What does it mean to be grateful?

Gratitude isn’t an action, it’s a state of being.

Gratitude is acceptance. It’s joyful surrender. Gratitude is grace and ease.

When we talk about having gratitude, we don’t mean just being thankful for the things we WANT; we mean that we are in full acceptance and celebration of exactly what and where we are.

As you observe gratitude this season, let yourself melt into that blissful surrender. Everything is exactly as it should be ✨

At KindRoots, your teachers are grateful for YOU. Your practice is an extension of yourself, and we want to help you celebrate and love it for exactly what it is.

This season, give yourself the gift of a steady, easeful mind and body.

Kind Roots is hosting a sound bath this Sunday, 11.21, at 6 pm 🤍

This hour-long class will feature 30 minutes of yoga Nidra, or the yoga of sleep; followed by 30 minutes of sound bowl therapy 🕊

Yoga Nidra is the practice of yogic sleep- a deep, guided meditation that allows the body to be relaxed into a sleeping state, while the mind is awake and meditating 💭

The seven crystal bowls present align with the seven main chakra points and are tuned to a frequency thought by many to promote wellness and peace within the body ✨

Leo: the lion. Ruled by the sun, fire, light. This energy is playful, confident, proud.
🦁
Leo reminds us that we are the center of our own solar system. We are the main character in our own story. We deserve to thrive.
💫
While Leo is motivated, showy and fierce, this energy is also warm and inviting. Leo is known to be friendly, with an emphasis on family and friendship. Lions are social, and each member of the group plays an important part in the success of the pride. A Leo’s defining trait is loyalty, and they will defend their home with a fiery gusto and joyful resolve rivaled only by the sun.
💥
This new moon in Leo is a powerful time for manifesting not only our own growth, but the growth of our connections. There are billions of suns in our universe, and Leo loves to shine bright with friends and family. A lion is only as strong as its pride. As we strengthen our community, we strengthen ourselves. ✨
Leo asks “What is my role, and how can I find my joy while exceeding expectations in that role?”
🌞
Channel Leo’s playful fire this new moon with a community circle! Join Hannah and Hayley as we celebrate this powerful energy. There will be playful meditations, a community spell-making class, and so much more! Tonight at 7:30pm✨

If you’re curious about Reiki but don’t know where to begin, this post is for you! 👇

Reiki is the practice of facilitating healing through energy. Our bodies know how to heal themselves, but sometimes our minds can get in the way. We are very much influenced by the energy of our environment; when we take the time to be still and breathe deeply, our body’s own natural healing process will take over.
⚡️

In a Reiki session from KindRoots, you will have the opportunity to experience this deep healing. Through sound therapy, weight therapy, aromatherapy, and a guided meditation, you can step out of your own way , allowing you to fully relax and surrender to the wisdom of your body.

“Perhaps the journey of becoming your highest self is not about becoming anything, it’s about unbecoming everything you were told to be.”- unknown
🪄
As humans, we undergo conditioning to live in our society. From birth, we are told how to eat, dress, speak, and act.

Ram Dass says that living as a human is like putting on a space suit- taking this conditioning is how we learn to use our spacesuit. It’s necessary; but is it right for everyone?
💫
As you dive deeper into your spirit (that’s what lives in the space suit) through yoga, you discover that this conditioning isn’t always the best idea.

Instead of trying to add more, see what happens when you take away from that programming. Question how society has told you to be busy, quiet, small, “normal.”

“Alone, we can do so little. Together, we can do so much.” - Helen Keller

It can seem intimidating to take up a new practice or hobby. There is so much to learn and do, and that can easily become overwhelming.

When building new skills, it’s nice to have some support. It’s not just comforting to have friends on your journey, it’s smart.

Acro is a community skill. We practice communication, learn to listen and get consent, and find trust as we move together through poses that can’t be achieved alone.

Looking to build strength, balance, flexibility, and a fun community to play with? Join us Wednesdays for a partner-based class to build skill and friendships! No experience or partner required.

Whats the main differences between a yin practice and a restorative practice?

Yin practice objective: to stretch the deep connective tissues in our bodies (ligaments, tendons, and fascia), rather than the more superficial muscle tissue, to increase strength and flexibility and improve join mobility.

Restorative practice objective: Meditative practice with heavy props to allow your body to relax and passively release tension in the mind and body without active stretching.

How long do you hold postures?
yin: 2-5 minutes
restorative: 5-10 minutes

Who is it for?
Yin is for people who may want to slow down their practice but are craving energy. It’s also a great practice that compliments other yoga practices like Hatha or Vinyasa.
Restorative is for people who want to slow down but want more rest. Restorative practice is also a good practice for people who are recovering from an injury or illness.

The main difference is that in a Restorative Yoga class the practitioner is asked to be 100% comfortable to release tension.  In a Yin Yoga class discomfort is welcome to encourage change at a deep level.

Both practices encourages the mind to slow down and pause from your everyday life. They both can create transformational healing by bringing awareness to your inner world. Encouraging us to rest and notice what is coming up for ourselves when we encounter stillness.

Come experience both practices for yourself on Tuesdays at 5:30pm for Yin Practice with or a Restorative Practice with on Thursdays at 6pm. We can’t wait to slow down with you💕
