Shoveling 101 — Let’s Get After It
Snow isn’t moving itself. Train smart and protect your back:

• Step into your scoops
• Sit into a squat with heavy/wet snow
• No rounding the back—strong spine only
• Keep the shovel and load close
• Brace your core like you’re lifting in the gym

Snow removal is functional training.
Move with intent. Stay strong. Let’s get after it. 💪

It’s snowing—which means many of us are about to rediscover muscles we forgot we had. 😅❄️
Year-round strengthening helps, but if you haven’t been as consistent lately, no worries! Just keep your lifting mechanics in check to avoid neck, back, and shoulder injuries while shoveling. Your body will thank you later.

🔥 Let’s Get After It! 🔥
If you’re feeling tight, achy, or just off, don’t sleep on this:
The three most common areas of tension are usually the ones that need more strength, not more stretching.

💥 Upper Traps
💥 Glutes
💥 Hamstrings

These muscles work overtime to stabilize you—so give them what they actually need:
👉 Isometric strengthening to build control
👉 Progressive overload to build resilience
👉 Consistency to keep tension from coming back

Stop chasing temporary relief. Start building the strength your body’s been asking for.
Let’s get after it. 💪🔥

“Are your muscles truly tight, or are they weak and compensating? It’s a more complex issue than it seems. When stretching alone doesn’t create lasting relief, it often means there’s underlying weakness that needs to be addressed. Improving strength can reduce that ‘tight’ feeling and restore more balanced movement.”

Foam Roll (Thoracic Extension): Helps reduce upper-back stiffness and opens the chest, improving mobility for better posture.

Chin Tucks: Strengthen the deep neck flexors and help correct forward-head posture.

Scapular Retraction: Activates the mid-back muscles, improving shoulder alignment and upper-body posture.

Using these together builds awareness, improves alignment, and can help reduce symptoms like neck pain, headaches, and upper-back tightness.

“Posture affects everyone—ignore it and it shows up as neck pain, back pain, headaches, or numbness and tingling down the arms. The fix starts with awareness. Once you dial into your posture, you can correct it, strengthen it, and own it. Stay intentional, stay aligned—let’s get after it.”

🔥 Let’s Get After It! 🔥
Strong movement starts with muscle awareness — not just going through the motions.
💪 When you squat or deadlift, tune in to every detail:
Glutes: drive the movement, feel them fire through the lift.
Core: brace like you’re about to take a punch — stability = power.
Feet: grip the floor, find that tripod support, and stay grounded.
Then take it to the mat:
🧱 Plank & Side Plank — this is where true control shows up.
Engage your core + hips, align head to heels, and feel that connection from center to extremities.
Don’t rush it. Move with purpose, own each rep, and let your body learn what strong feels like.
Every rep is a chance to dial it in. 👊

🧠 LET’S GET AFTER IT — WITH AWARENESS 💪

Building strength isn’t just about pushing harder — it’s about tuning in deeper.

In physical therapy and performance training, we talk a lot about focused muscle awareness — the ability to feel and activate the right muscles at the right time.

Because strength doesn’t start with the weight…
It starts with the mind–muscle connection.

✅ Feel your glutes drive your squat.
✅ Engage your core before every lift.
✅ Notice when the right muscles are working — and when they’re not.

When you bring intention and awareness to every rep, you’re not just exercising — you’re retraining your body to move better, recover stronger, and perform at its best.

So today’s focus:
Don’t just go through the motion. Get after it — with purpose.
