Today the Bismarck Police Department proudly announces a dedicated memorial sign which will be placed on Highway 200, north of Bismarck, in honor of our fallen brother, Sgt. Steven Kenner. The sign will be installed near mile marker 193 at a future date.

This dedication comes following the passage of legislation in 2025 that allows fallen officers to be recognized with highway memorial signage. Sgt. Kenner was feloniously killed in 2011 while responding to a domestic violence incident—doing exactly what he swore an oath to do: protect others.

More than a decade later, his sacrifice and service are not forgotten. This memorial sign stands as a lasting reminder to all who travel Highway 200 of Sgt. Kenner’s courage, dedication, and ultimate sacrifice.

We remain forever grateful for his service and continue to keep his family, friends, and colleagues in our thoughts.

End of Watch: July 8th, 2011
Never Forgotten.
