Wisdom Wednesday: Try to avoid the middle isles of grocery stores!
Why? Refined sugar and processed grains erratically spike and crash blood sugar levels, which can drain your energy or lead to long-term blood sugar problems such as diabetes.
Sodium is an electrolyte needed by the body, but in very moderate amounts. Too much sodium can result in water retention and lead to more serious complications, such as hypertension.
The middle aisles of grocery stores are where processed foods live. And if you take a look at the nutrition labels of processed foods such as chips, cookies, commercially prepared granola bars, and crackers, you’ll find they almost always made from refined grains, added sodium and contain more than 6 grams of refined sugar per serving. 👎
Make your way around the outer aisles of the grocery store where the fresh fruits, vegetables and other nutrient-dense foods are located. This will help avoid temptation and fill your cart with foods that are free from refined sugar, sodium and refined grains.😋👍
