We have all heard that there is a huge connection to the gut and the brain. Which is true. HOWEVER, it is bigger than that. The gut microbes actually determine your entire body's health. It communicates with every organ. It affects our skin health. It affects it ALL!

Day 2: Foundations of Wellness: What Your Body Really Needs

Cell part 2. I included a photo my little M drew 7 years ago of a cell. I was impressed.

We talked yesterday about hydration. Today let's talk about the cellular structure and how it affects the skin.

It is ideal to have our cells be fluid like a sponge. We want nutrients to come in and toxins to go out. When the cell gets hard like a wall, it makes it more difficult for the nutrients we need to go in and it is tough for the toxins to leave. So, the cell becomes weak and inflamed. This causes inflammation in the body and also can make us more susceptible to cardiovascular disease.

Inflammation inside leads to inflammation outside. We can see premature aging, eczema, acne, rosacea, swelling and dryness.

This is where getting your omega 6 levels down and omega 3 levels up - cellularly is important.

The cell is where we should start when looking at any wellness protocol. Because the cells are the building blocks. When they aren't hydrated and healthy - neither are we and neither is our hair skin and nails.

Day 1: Foundations of Wellness: What Your Body Really Needs.

Happy hydrated cells and healthy happy skin. And you thought your skin only responded to outside factors? (well, if you follow this page - you most likely didn't think that).

Your skin health is a reflection of your internal health. And it starts with the cell and all the wonderful components of those amazing little powerhouses.

So for beautiful healthy skin, let us start our journey in the cell (there will be a couple of days with this one).

Salt water or electrolytes. You choose. I prefer to sprinkle some salt in my water twice a day vs electrolytes with questionable ingredients.

Hydrating your cells balances out the pH, keeps those little guys nice and plump. Keeps your skin hydrated from the inside out (no fancy cream can hydrate on the outside if the inside is thirsty!).

It can help with inflammation, reduce acne, eczema and redness. Helps eyes to be bright and shiny and not dry and irritated. Being hydrated can help with hair and skin health.

My favorite benefit ... promotes ATP within the cell (skin cells too!) and ATP is fuel for skin cell energy. Promotes elastin and collagen production, helps with cell repair so skin is able to fight off free radicals from the environment.

Start your day off with some healthy living water while watching the sunrise. Your skin will thank you!

A recent study suggests that maintaining a balanced omega-3 level could help prevent a significant portion of dementia cases, potentially up to 73% when combined with other modifiable risk factors like B vitamins

How omega-3s may help prevent dementia:

Reduced beta-amyloid: Studies show that high DHA (an omega-3 fatty acid) intake can significantly reduce the production of beta-amyloid protein, a key factor in Alzheimer's disease.

Brain cell growth: DHA has been found to promote neurogenesis (new neuron growth) in the hippocampus, a brain region crucial for memory.

I absolutely love crafts! Anyone else?

I have to be honest, we really enjoyed doing this over carving the pumpkins!

Now, it’s officially Christmas season. Great American Pure Flix will be on nonstop with good ole Christmas movies and all the fun crafting comes out in our household! 🧵

This is when I do miss living in Wisconsin. Lots of get togethers, cookie swaps, dinners, church craft fairs etc. 🌲
