Your digestion’s been a mess since Thanksgiving and you're starting to wonder if this is just... how it is now.

Bloating that makes you want to live in sweatpants.
Bathroom trips that feel unpredictable at best.
That bone-deep fatigue that hits right after eating.
Brain fog when you need to be sharp.
Either no appetite at all—or cravings you can't control.
This isn't a failing on your part. Your system is maxed out.

Rich food. Emotional stress. Less movement. Irregular sleep. Your liver and gallbladder are doing their best, but they're maxed out—and your digestion is paying the price.

You've probably tried cutting things out, adding things in, Googling symptoms at midnight. And maybe some of it helped a little. But you're still not right.

Chinese Medicine is really, really good at this. I help your digestive system recalibrate—not by forcing anything, but by supporting the organs that are already working overtime. So your energy comes back. Your mood stabilizes. Your body starts to feel like yours again.

If your gut's been acting weird and you're tired of just managing it, I'm here.
Text or call (828)357-7175 for a free 15-minute consult. Let's figure out what's actually going on.

Chronic ache that won't quit. Sharp pain when you bend or lift. Stiffness in the morning that takes an hour to loosen. Sciatic pain radiating down your leg.

In Chinese Medicine, the lower back is the "mansion of the Kidneys"—meaning lower back pain often signals deeper depletion in your Kidney system. This is your body's way of saying it needs nourishment, rest, and support at the foundational level.

I treat lower back pain by:
💓 Reducing inflammation and muscle tension
💓 Restoring circulation and nerve function
💓 Addressing the root depletion that's causing the pain

You don't have to just "manage" it. Let's actually shift it.

You wake up tired. You push through the day on fumes. And by evening, you're either wired or completely depleted.

Sound familiar?

This is what burnout looks like in your body—and it's often connected to adrenal fatigue. Your stress response has been on overdrive for so long that your system can't keep up anymore.

You might also be dealing with:
😴 Trouble waking up, even after a full night's sleep
😴 Afternoon crashes that demand caffeine
😴 Brain fog and trouble concentrating
😴 Cravings for salt or sugar
😴 Low libido
😴 Difficulty recovering from stress or illness

In Chinese Medicine, this shows up as Kidney deficiency—the deep reserves of your vitality are running low. If you start now, you can rebuild your foundation before spring asks even more of you. 2026 is the Year of the Fire Horse — what does that mean for us?

Fire represents transformation. It burns away what no longer serves so something new can emerge. It is powerful, chaotic, mesmerizing, fast-moving, and charismatic.

The Horse symbolizes movement, forward momentum, and engagement. Horses are incredibly sensitive beings — the electromagnetic field of a horse’s heart is significantly larger and stronger than that of a human. As prey animals, they are finely attuned to subtle energetic shifts in their environment.

When we combine Fire and Horse energy, we get a year that moves quickly and changes rapidly. The question becomes: how do we stay grounded and connected amidst that intensity?

Your invitation this year is to stay connected to your own heart.

Balance the strong yang Fire energy with the calming presence of water. Sit by a lake. Hike to a waterfall. Float in the ocean. Stay well hydrated. Develop or deepen a meditation practice that helps you settle into your Root Chakra and anchor into your body.

When you are heart-centered and grounded in your true nature, you can move forward with confidence and embrace transformation rather than resist it.

In my practice, I anticipate themes arising around cardiovascular health, relationship stress, anxiety, kidney and urinary concerns, depression, and digestive imbalances — all areas that can flare when Fire energy runs unchecked.

My wish for you is a year of beautiful transformation, steady confidence, and meaningful opportunity.

Are you craving stillness and stress relief? Here's something simple to try:

Body Scan Meditation

Best for reconnecting with the body, relieving tension, improving sleep. In a body scan meditation, you mentally "scan” your body from head to toe, paying attention to any sensations — tingling, warmth, tension — without trying to change them. It’s often used in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programs to help people cope with chronic pain, anxiety, and sleep disorders.

Try it:
Lie down comfortably.
Close your eyes and begin focusing on your toes.
Move your attention slowly upward, noticing sensations in each part of the body.
If you encounter tension, breathe into it, then move on.
The body scan teaches you to listen to your body with kindness and patience, rather than criticism or urgency.

It's pear season, and I'm crazy about pears lately. They're cooling and moisturizing for the lungs. If you are someone with sensitive lungs, including pears in your diet could be a gentle and simple way to support yourself.

Easy to add to a breakfast porridge. Try a warm bowl of fresh cooked oatmeal from the stovetop, add a chopped up pear, a dollop of almond butter, a tablespoon of h**p seeds, and a sprinkle of cinnamon. So nourishing!

If you tend to get a dry tickly cough, look at some of the recipes for simple pear and honey cough syrup.

And grab a bottle of pear juice from the grocery store. It can be a thick juice, so I water mine down about half and half pear & water. Refreshing and soothing for that sensitive lung tissue.

Hello friends! Here's a fun way to share some of my favorite things from this last month or so, and a way to share a little bit about me.

1. I love flowers and photography, and if you were to look at my camera roll you'd find a ridiculous amount of photos of flowers, mushrooms, and little or big bits of nature from anywhere I've been. Like Hansel and Gretel leaving crumbs to find their way home, I have a trail of photos.

2. Take me to a waterfall, lets stroll beside a stream, smell the forest, see the leaves change...anything outside is where I want to be.

3. I learned how to make gluten free foccaccia, and then decorated it with chives from the small raised bed garden we have, and parsley and tomatoes from our Red Scout Farm CSA. This was so fun and satisfying. The texture of the bread dough, and the aroma of the herbs and tomatoes, pure harvest delight.

4. A Saturday morning jaunt to the Farmers Market for peaches, basil from the CSA again, gf baguette, prosciutto, and burrata from Trader Joe's, made a delightful easy dinner.

5. Three furry beasts rule our household now that we're empty nesters. Murphy is the youngest, and we're working hard on finding a "Play vs Quiet Time" life balance for him. But who can resist those sweet brown eyes?

What little moments of joy have you found in the last 6 weeks? And what do you look forward to as we move into cool crisp autumn weather?

We're beginning to transition from the harvest season of late summer into the early days of autumn and it's time to boost our immune systems.

Here are a couple of my favorite things for autumn:

1. Adding bone broth to soups, to cook rice, to saute veggies, or just to drink a mug of warm cozy broth with some spring onions. It's hearty and healing and perfect for this time of year.

2. Speaking of broth, soup season is almost here! Hydrating, nourishing, and full of warm cooked veggies and nutrients, soups are a mainstay in our household. I like to make a big pot that becomes leftovers throughout the week. Some of my favorites are Turkey Pumpkin Chili recipe on the Whole Foods website, and Eat Your Greens Detox Soup from the Oh She Glows blog/cookbook.

3. You know that pumpkin spice blend that gets so much attention? Well that spice blend is wonderful for your circulation, and your joints! Mix up your own batch of spices to sprinkle on oatmeal or add to warm drinks and keep your joints happy when we move into colder weather.

4. Get back to your immune boosting herbal formulas! With kids back to school, and new routines settling in, it's time to make sure you're taking an herbal support formula. Jade Windscreen is popular for adults and kids. Let me know if you want to pick some up from the office!

5. Schedule a seasonal tune up! If it's been a little while since you've been in, it's a great time to get a boost.

What are your favorite tools for getting ready for the fall season? 🍁
