How many hours have I taught yoga?
3,109.
And that number doesn’t include my three yoga teacher trainings.
It doesn’t include the years (and thousands of hours) I invested to become a Pilates teacher.
It doesn’t include the thousands of hours I’ve taught Pilates.
It doesn’t include the time spent in three different educational tracks studying pelvic floor, core, and spine function.
And it doesn’t include the 10+ hours a week I’m currently devoting to my master’s in Ayurvedic Integrative Medicine and PhD work in Physiology.
I share that because sometimes people see “yoga” or “Pilates” on a schedule and assume it’s simple. Or interchangeable. Or something that should cost about the same as a streaming subscription.
I’m not “just” a yoga teacher.
I’m not “just” a Pilates teacher.
And I say that with deep respect for anyone who teaches either. This work matters. All of it.
What I do is movement education. It’s anatomy and breath and nervous system regulation. It’s understanding hormones, fascia, pelvic floor dynamics, spinal mechanics, and how all of that changes across decades of a woman’s life. It’s knowing how to keep someone safe when they’re postpartum, perimenopausal, hypermobile, rehabbing, overwhelmed, or brand new to moving their body.
It’s also knowing how to make it joyful.
To design classes that are progressive and intelligent. To meet beginners and athletes in the same room. To keep it accessible without watering it down. To keep it fun without compromising safety. That takes time. It takes study. It takes staying curious and humble and continuing to learn long after certifications are framed on a wall.
Investing in high-quality instruction isn’t just about paying for an hour on a mat. It’s about supporting the years behind that hour.
Living, breathing, practicing, and teaching movement that is safe, inclusive, progressive, and sustainable isn’t a side gig for me. It’s my life’s work.
And that photo? Those are my “Squirrel Monkey” aerial students. They keep me sharp, creative, and very much on my toes.
