Mrs. Myrtice Etheleen (Hickox) Hickox, 85, of Hoboken, passed away Friday afternoon, December 19, 2025, at HCA Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, FL.

Born in Hoboken, GA on November 13, 1940, she lived in Farmington, NM for several years before returning to Hoboken four years ago. Mrs. Hickox was a 1958 graduate of Hoboken High School. She worked in retail as well as in the restaurant business prior to becoming a homemaker. Mrs. Hickox loved the outdoors whether it was traveling to the mountains, camping, hunting with her husband, or sitting outside listening to the birds and looking at the mountains while living in New Mexico. She had enjoyed cooking, reading her Bible; and putting puzzles together before her eyesight began to fail. She was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church in Hoboken and will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

She was a daughter of the late Jesse & Ethel Dowling Hickox. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Dominic Cardenas; all three of her sisters, Effie Mae Griffin, Inez Stokes, and Clara Russell; and by all four of her brothers, Gillis, Lawton, Fred, and Russell Hickox.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Landell Hickox of Hoboken; her daughter and son-in-law, Vickie Hickox and Muhammad Imtiaz of North Port, FL; her son and daughter-in-law, Stacey & Michelle Hickox of Farmington, NM; 5 grandchildren, Steven (Cheyanne) Cardenas, Laticia Cardenas, Michael Cardenas, Hailey Hickox, and Skylar Hickox; 7 great grandchildren, Aiden Cardenas, Jordan Hooks, Gabriel Hooks, Elijah Hooks, Grace Cardenas, Eden Cardenas, and Clay Baker; a very special niece, Christy Stokes Thomas of Valdosta; her beloved pet dog, Susie; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hickox will be held Tuesday afternoon, December 23, 2025, at 2:00 o’clock from the Spring Hill Baptist Missionary Church with Rev. Arthur Hickox and Pastor Justin Ennis officiating.

The family will be receiving friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in the Moore Cemetery in Hoboken.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the givers choosing.

Mr. Richard Lynn “Pete” McCammon, 77, of Blackshear, passed away late Wednesday evening, December 10, 2025, at his residence.

Born in Butler, MO on January 23, 1948, he grew up and lived in Missouri and Kansas prior to moving to Sebring, FL and then to Pierce County over 30 years ago. Mr. McCammon was a graduate of Westport High School in Kansas City, KS and was drafted into the US Army in 1968 where he served for four years. He worked for the railroad in the Midwest but spent most of his working career as a contractor. When he moved to FL, he began working as an electrician. Once he moved to Georgia, he worked as a machinist working for Waycross Molded Products then for General Box Company. Mr. McCammon enjoyed flying radio-controlled airplanes, and building/working on muscle cars and trucks. He also enjoyed raising chickens, goats, and his three pet dogs, Watson, Scrappy Doo, and Gator. Mr. McCammon was a happy, laid-back man who enjoyed life and dearly loved his family. He was a member of Youmans Chapel Baptist Church.

He was a son of the late Charles H. & Caleen A. Schmidt McCammon. He was also preceded in death by both of his brothers, Larry Lee McCammon and Robert Eugene McCammon.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Melanie Awmiller McCammon of Blackshear; his daughter, Nicole (Jeromy) Sweat of Blackshear; five sons, Scott McCammon of Kansas City, KS, Curtis McCammon of Waverly, KS, Christopher (Haily) McCammon of Elkhart, KS, and Robert (Carrie) Phillips and Adam Phillips all of Nahunta; three sisters, Martha Grimsley of Adrian, MO, Effie Long of Olathe, KS, and Linda McCammon of Amoret, MO; 14 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren due soon; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

Memorialization is by cremation.

Mrs. Gloria Annette Corbitt Corbitt, 85, of Blackshear, passed away Tuesday morning, December 9, 2025, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House.

Born on January 10, 1940, in Waycross, GA, she lived in Pierce County most of her adult life. Mrs. Corbitt worked at Rubin Brothers Shoe Factory as well as a meat factory prior to obtaining her CNA certification and going to work at Memorial Hospital in Waycross for ten years. She would go on to work as a private sitter for several people including the Eunice Family. Mrs. Corbitt loved doing crafts and selling them at craft shows. She also enjoyed arranging flowers and going to garage sales. She was a member of Patterson Baptist Church.

She was a daughter of the late Ottie LaFayette & Eva Mae Tillman Corbitt. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Robert Corbitt, Sr.; two sons, Dewey Robert Corbitt, Jr. and Glenn Allen Corbitt; a sister, Azilee Meredith; and a brother, Robert E. Corbitt.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Lester & Lisa Corbitt of Blackshear; a sister, Josephine “Jo” Tatum of Waycross; a brother, Donald (Margaret) Corbitt of Waycross; a sister-in-law, Sandy Corbitt of Sharpsburg, NC; 4 grandchildren, John (Kerry) Corbitt, Les (Brandi) Corbitt, Chris (Miranda) Corbitt, and Cole (Jessica) Corbitt; 8 great grandchildren, Emily Corbitt, Erykka (Andrew) Joyner, Leah Corbitt, Tomee Corbitt, Kristal Corbitt, Kaitlyn Corbitt, Dylan (Taylor) Corbitt, and Matthew Corbitt; a great great grandchild, Kash Corbitt; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Memorialization is by cremation.

Judith Ann James Harris, 79, of Blackshear, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2025, at her home.

She was born in Blackshear, GA on May 9, 1946. She grew up in Blackshear before moving to Atlanta in her teens. She graduated from Gordon High School in Atlanta in 1964 and from Crawford W. Long Hospital of Histology in 1965.

She was the daughter of the late Gertrude Harper James and Jewel Oden James. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Melanie Harris, her brothers, Larry K. James, Harvey James, an infant brother Jewel Oden James, Jr.

Judy leaves behind a daughter, Andrea Boatright; 2 grandsons, Will Ritch and Harris Ritch; granddaughter, Maggie (Matt) Simmons; Cole Harris and Sally Harris (Lawton O’Berry) whom she loved like grandchildren; four great-grandsons, William Bennett Ritch, III, Brysen Reid Ritch, Porter Aven Ritch, and Reid Cason Simmons; nephews, Greg James, Lance (Pam) James, and nieces, Camille J. Hendry, and Jennifer (Dan) Strickland.

Memorialization is by cremation. A service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Geneva Sears Aspinwall, 98, of Bloomingdale, formerly of Offerman, passed away Wednesday morning, December 3, 2025, at her residence.

Born in Brunswick, GA on November 5, 1927, Mrs. Aspinwall lived in Offerman most of her life before moving to her daughter’s in Bloomingdale ten years ago. She was a Patterson High School graduate. She was a homemaker and was deeply devoted to her husband and children. Over the years, she had helped her husband on the farm and joined him in planting their garden. Mrs. Aspinwall also enjoyed working in the yard and tending to her flowers. She was a longtime member of Offerman Baptist Church and dearly loved her church and pastor.

She was a daughter of the late Calvin Sears and Beulah Cowart Miller. She was also preceded in death by her husband of nearly 70 years, Jack Allen Aspinwall; a sister, Betty Ann; and her brother and sister-in-law, Donald “Buck” & Evelyn Sears.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie & Bill Yawn of Bloomingdale and Heather & Corey Best of St. Augustine, FL; her son and daughter-in-law, Mike & Barbara Aspinwall of Meldrim; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services for Mrs. Aspinwall will be held Friday afternoon, December 5, 2025, at 12 o’clock from the Offerman Baptist Church with Rev. James Lightsey officiating.

The family will be receiving friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in Offerman Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Mrs. Shelly and Mrs. Dee with Island Hospice for their love and devotion shown to not only Mrs. Aspinwall, but to her family during her time with hospice.

Please join us in lifting up the Roberson family in prayer as they cope with the loss of their husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Our deepest condolences to the family during this time.

Mr. James Sylvanus Roberson, 88, of Blackshear, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2025, at his home.

He was born at home on October 19, 1937, and lived all his life on the same farm in Pierce County, where he and his wife, Alyce, raised their family. They enjoyed over 66 years of living and working together.

He graduated from Blackshear High School in 1956. He was called for Reserve Duty in the USAR in 1957.

Known as a hardworking man, he began working at the age of seven, by driving a horse and wagon in the to***co fields for 25 cents a day. He sold produce and fish, worked at Pierce Trading Company and Wall’s Grocery before opening Roberson Abattoir in the 1960s, which he ran for over 40 years. He was one of the founders of Southside Volunteer Fire Department where he served as fire chief. Other business adventures included Sunshine Foods and Roberson Hay Farm. He also farmed for many years and loved growing a vegetable garden every year. He loved sharing his vegetables with friends and family and giving a daily update on their growth.

He also loved hunting and fishing and was one of the founders and presidents of Blue Lake Hunting Club. He and his family also spent many weekends fishing at his get-aways on both the Satilla and St. Mary’s rivers over the years. He loved sharing hunting and fishing stories and may have embellished his stories a little.

Most importantly, he loved the Lord and never missed church or prayer meeting until his health started failing. He attended St. John’s UMC and served as a Trustee for many years until moving his membership to South Gate Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and Deacon Chairman. He loved attending Brotherhood dinners, and he and his wife spent many days visiting the sick and elderly.

He was a loving husband and father that instilled strong values into his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Jane Herrin Roberson and Joseph Edwin “Ed” Roberson. He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Georgette Roberson and his brother, WA “Bill” Stewart.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Alyce King Roberson; his children, E.L. Roberson (Sheila Rowell), Jimmie Rae (Robbie) Roberts, and Danny (Karen) Roberson; grandchildren, Philip (Tanya) Roberson, Payton Roberson, Drew Thigpen, Justin (Jamie) Roberts, Raymond Roberts, and Ansleigh (Dusty) Godwin; great-grandchildren, Mason, Madox, and Maylee Roberson, Mia, Leila Ruth, and Liza Rae Roberts, and Dawson Godwin; sister and brother-in-law, Sonja and Dewayne Tuten, Wanda Peacock, Geraldine Walley, and Gloria King; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services for Mr. Roberson will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 1 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel.

The family will be receiving friends at the chapel one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in Enon Cemetery.

Mr. Walter Ander Aldridge, 84, of Blackshear, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2025, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro.

Born in Blackshear, GA on September 28, 1941, he had lived most of his life in Pierce County, graduating from Blackshear High School in 1960. Mr. Aldridge went on to work for Scapa Dryer Industries, Babcock and Wilcox (B & W), B & K Danco, where he became a boilermaker, and finally retiring with The Southern Company as a boilermaker. He enjoyed farming and taking care of his pecan orchard. He also enjoyed traveling and fishing. He spent many years enjoying hunting, especially c**n hunting, and showing his bluetick hounds. He was a member of St. Johns Community Church.

He was a son of the late Isham and America Gill Aldridge, Jr.. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Joyce Blackshear; a son, Walter Lamar Aldridge; all three of his sisters, Kathlene Page, Ruthie Sapp and Doris Rountree; five brothers, Buddy, Grady, Clarence, Leroy, and Allen Aldridge; and a grandson, Major Blackshear.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Jennie Aldridge of Homerville; a brother and sister-in-law, Lonnie and Vera Aldridge of Jacksonville; granddaughters, Ashlee Nicole Aldridge, Alana Danielle Aldridge, and Mindie Blackshear (Ryan) Turner; step-grandsons, Jason York and Aaron (Erin) York; great-grandchildren, Aric Bo Norris, Amy Protonentis, and Leanna Blackshear; step-great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Westin, Mackenzie, Mahaila, Kinley, Jayden, Joanna, and Daisy York; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and caregiver and special friend, Debra Harris of Statesboro.

Funeral services for Mr. Aldridge will be held Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 2 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel.

The family will be receiving friends at the chapel one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in the St. Johns Cemetery.

Mr. Dennis Hugh Strickland, 76, of Waycross, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at the Hospice Satilla Hospice House in Waycross.

Born in Waycross, GA on December 7, 1948, Dennis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, whose life was marked by a deep love for his family. Dennis retired from CSX Railroad in January 2009 after 39 years of dedication to the railroad. He also served for several years with the National Guard. He enjoyed being outdoors, whether it be fishing, golfing, or playing softball and baseball, of which he was a gifted pitcher during his Little League career, and always kept a deep love for the game. Dennis had served as a volunteer firefighter for many years with the Pebble Hill Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of Jamestown Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe Strickland and Pearl Corbitt, whom he has now joined in eternal rest. He is also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Roger Moody.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Gail Wilkinson Strickland; his children, Bren Hugh (Katie) Strickland and Heather Denise (Lloyd) Dumas; his grandchildren, Colby Dumas, Tanner Dumas, Axl Strickland, Wyatt Strickland, and Ella Strickland, each of whom brought immense joy and pride in his life; his brother, Ronnie (Mary Ann) Strickland; his sister, Gail Moody; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

An informal Celebration of Life and visitation time with the family will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M., at Jamestown Baptist Church.

Mr. Kenneth Allen “Kenny” Moody, 68, of Blackshear, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2025, at HCA Florida Memorial Hospital.

Born in Waycross, GA on November 11, 1957, he lived in Pierce County all his life. Kenny was a 1975 graduate of Blackshear High School. He was a truck driver, known by the call sign “Lightnin’” and retired from Trucks, Inc.. His trucking career took him all over the country and he was therefore a Multi Million Miles Truck Driver. He was awarded 1st place in 2004 and 2005 in the GA Truck Driving Championship in the Straight Truck Division. Kenny could fix just about anything and would do anything he could for people. His greatest love was for his grandkids and he was very proud to be their Papa. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was a son of the late Cleon Browning “Nappy” & Miley Laura Hall Moody. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Moody.

Survivors include his wife, Debra Ann Hodges Moody of Blackshear; his daughter, Addie (Sam) Ogden of Wesley Chapel, FL; three sons, David (Allyson) Moody of St. Cloud, and Eric (Belinda) Moody and J. T. Moody (Stefanie Santos) all of Blackshear; two sisters, Cathy Moody and Lisa (Wade) Johnson all of Folkston; a brother, Rusty (Jackie) Moody of Hoboken; 5 grandchildren, Ben Moody, Sarah (Brandon) Cerna, Alley Ogden, Conner Moody, and Leeria Moody; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services for Kenny will be held Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 12:00 o’clock from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel.

The family will be receiving friends at the chapel one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in the Byrd Cemetery in Bristol, GA.
