In my 30s, I connected a rando person on IG, as one does, and said yes to flying to Mexico to attend a breathwork retreat she was hosting...

And it changed my life.

Breathwork was pivot in my post divorce healing journey, has opened my eyes to so many of my subconscious patterns, changed how I view the nervous system and how I practice chiropractic.

It is still one of the most powerful self regulating tool in my toolbox and I'm thankful for lessons, healing, and community breahtwork has brought into my life.

THIS is the power of grounding the nervous system and releasing fascial tension.

In the before photo, she stated that her belly felt tight, uncomfortable, and her belly visibly pulled to the left side—her body holding onto stress.

After an adjustment and fascia release, everything shifted. Her belly softened, the tension melted, and the shape became more balanced.

Stress affects kids.

Even though their stress may look different than that of adults, their nervous systems will still enter the fight-or-flight response as long as they interpret stress. It's critical to have a healthy body and adaptable nervous system for kids to develop optimally.

If kids stay in fight-or-flight mode, you might see:
Emotion dysregulation
Ear infections
Challenges with growth and development
Constipation or gut health issues
Poor immune system


Adjustments help us adapt and respond to stress more efficiently. In a world full of stressors, learning how to soothe our nervous systems is a must.

Everyone and their grandma are probably giving you pregnancy advice. We thought we'd chime in with ours too 😉

It’s a beautiful journey filled with excitement, but it can also come with its challenges. Remember to prioritize self-care—your body is doing incredible work!

Our 3 tips that we tell every single pregnant patients:
- Eat 100g of protein per day. Protein is essential for development of your baby's organs and tissues. It helps with breast and uterine tissue to grow during pregnancy, plays a role in your increasing blood supply, and helps to keep swelling down.

- Gather your birth team. Your midwife, OB, doula, prenatal chiropractor, pelvic floor therapist, etc should be aligned with your health goals and help get you resources to get informed about pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Your birth team can truly change how your experience goes, pick wisely.

- Daily nervous system regulation. If there is the only 1 thing you do from this list, THIS should be it. The state of your nervous system is the environment that your baby is being built in. If you are constantly stressed out and overwhelmed, your nervous system is in fight or flight. This programs baby's nervous system to also be more in the fight or flight vs relaxed and calm.

Looking through these photos takes us back to the vibe and feelings of the retreat ❤️

We are so thankful for every person that showed up for themselves. For the vulnerability and openness they showed. For the courage to share their story. For the community and sisterhood that was created.

We are filled with gratitude and awe of how we can come together and hold space for D E E P healing.

A regulated nervous system does NOT mean "always calm and collected".

The truth is that your nervous system is not meant to be in a constant state of calm. The nervous system is meant to adapt to different stressors in your life. It is meant to flow between fight or flight, sympathetic mode, and growth and restore, parasympathetic mode.

A regulated nervous system is one that can adapt to the ebb and flow of your life without getting stuck in sympathetic or parasympathetic mode. We're not meant to constantly stay in between the two modes. We're meant to flow in and out of the modes.

It's not about constantly being balanced. It's about having the capacity to adapt.

When we don't have the capacity to adapt, dis-ease happens.

Our nervous systems is at the core of emotions. When the nervous system is amped up, you'll notice a kiddo who is fussy, hard to console, not sleeping or pooping well, etc.

When the nervous system is calm, you'll notice a kiddo who is happy, easy to console, and sleeps well.
