Blandford Fire & Rescue It is the goal of the Blandford Fire Department to be a leading emergency services provider.

Utilizing and improving the dedication and skills of its members shall accomplish this. The membership will constantly strive to improve the department’s services, operations and training. We will give top priority to firefighter safety, safety of the community, and environmental concerns. The department will encourage professional and personal development of its members by working together and learning from each individual’s skills, knowledge, and diversity. Lastly, the department shall communicate openly and honestly to each other and the community to promote trust and commitment.

Due to high winds burn permits will not be issued today.

Most of Massachusetts is in critical status. If open burning is allowed in your community, remember that a permit from your local fire department is always required in advance. Many communities have seen fast-moving brush fires break out this week: please use caution with any outdoor activity that involves open flames, sparks, or other heat sources.

Another week, another snowstorm! If you're able to, please consider adopting a hydrant tomorrow. Shovel a path to the street and clear the snow for three feet in all directions. This is especially helpful in those areas where plows pile it up along the roadway, and it can save precious seconds in an emergency.

Reminder today is the Blandford fire associations breakfast with Santa. Town hall from 8:30 to 11. Raffles and plenty to eat. Did we mention Santa will be stopping by as well!
