Most people think supporting their gut means focusing on food.

More fiber.

And yes, those things can help.

But after 25+ years working with people struggling with digestion, and navigating my own digestive challenges, I’ve learned something important:

Your gut needs movement just as much as it needs nourishment.

Not just going for a walk, although that helps. I’m talking about organ-specific movements designed to mobilize and release the organs that drive digestion and elimination.

When organs become tight or restricted, digestion and elimination can start to feel the same way.

For years, I watched people blame themselves for their gut struggles.

They stocked their fridge with good intentions.

And yet they were still dealing with bloating, constipation, or a gut that felt completely unpredictable.

Not because they weren’t trying hard enough.

Because no one ever taught them how the brain, organs, emotions & nervous system actually work together to support digestion and elimination.

This is why I do the work I do.

I’ve seen what happens when people stop fighting their bodies and start working with their structure, their nervous system, and their organs instead.

Floppy Ear Friday and apparently Vivi has entered her teenage era. 🐾

You know the look… the one where they glance at you, look away, and then look back like they are silently questioning every life choice you have ever made.

Living with a teenager has clearly prepared me for this moment because somehow Vivi has mastered the exact same energy. The subtle side glance. The dramatic pause. The “I will respond when I feel like it” vibe.

Everyone’s talking about nervous system regulation right now.

Deep breathing.
Shake your body out.
Cold plunging.
Journaling.

And yes — those may help.

Unless your system has been living in survival mode for years.
Unless your survival reflexes are still active.
Unless your body doesn’t actually know what safe feels like.

You can’t breathe yourself out of a dysregulated nervous system.
