There’s a lot of concern these days about young people. Technology, social media, mental health to name a few. Those are real challenges, and honestly, they often keep me up at night.

But recently, at my daughter’s first high school Homecoming, I saw so much they’re getting right. 💗

They decided to go as a group, no pressure for dates, no awkward expectations, just friendship, laughter, and joy.

And instead of getting poked with a corsage, they made a gathering out of it and created their own bouquets. Gotta love a craft moment that pulls teens away from technology. 🌸

They traded painful heels for sneakers (even if just after the photos) and danced the night away in comfort like it was no big deal. 👟✨

And the way the dads are showing up for these girls, laughing, joining in on photos (even trying to recreate their poses), it’s another thing I absolutely love. 💐😆

They’re breaking traditions, choosing what feels best for them, and I am SO here for it.

My hope is that as life unfolds and relationships come and go, they’ll keep that girl pack close, the ones who’ve got your back and remind you who you are when things get messy.

And that each girl knows she never has to wait for someone else to bring her flowers. 💐💗

Let’s celebrate this next generation for what they’re getting right. 💜

Everyone’s on the pumpkin spice bandwagon this fall 🎃🍂

That’s not really me but I’ve still found some serious yumminess this season. (And okay, I even surprised myself by loving one pumpkin treat 😉)

The truth is, I wasn’t always able to enjoy this variety of food. For years my gut couldn’t handle it. One “fun food” could leave me bloated, exhausted, or totally off for days.

Healing my gut has changed that. 💗
Now I can enjoy treats occasionally without totally throwing off my system because my digestion and nervous system finally know how to work with each other instead of against each other.

It’s not about restriction. It’s about regulation and repair.

Sharing my latest musings over at Detroit Mom.

Halloween isn’t always “fun-sized” for every child. From the lens of nervous system regulation, I’m offering a gentle reminder that not every kid can wear a mask but every child deserves to be seen, supported, and included. 🎃

Let’s honor each family’s experience and make space for the ones who experience Halloween a little differently.💗

We’re coming up on Halloween, a holiday that can be magical but also deeply challenging for some families.

Before you open your door this year, take a pause. Think about the children and parents who will come to your doorstep.

The child with allergies who longs to join the fun but can’t risk most of the candy being handed out.

The child who doesn’t wear a costume because scratchy fabric or loud masks overwhelm their senses.

The child who is nonverbal but shows up bravely, ready to communicate through a smile, a gesture, or simply by being there.

The teen who is often told they’re “too old,” but still craves the joy of trick-or-treating.

The shy child who, for one night, gets to step into a character and feel bold enough to knock on a stranger’s door.

Halloween isn’t just about treats. It’s the chance to try on something new. To be brave. To step out of the ordinary and feel included in the magic of the night.

The real magic of Halloween is creating space for every child to feel welcome.

For the parents walking beside these children, it means everything to know there’s a home where their child is not just tolerated, but welcomed and celebrated.

Because in the end, every parent wants the same thing: for their child to be acknowledged, included, and valued for who they are.

When a parent sees their child welcomed just as they are, it lifts a weight they’ve carried silently. Your smile, your patience, your willingness to offer something that works for their child, it tells them their child belongs.

And that sense of belonging lasts far longer than Halloween night.

So here’s my invitation: before the doorbell rings, take a pause.

What if every porch was a place of acceptance? What if we all opened our doors with respect, patience, and a little creativity to make space for every child?

The real treat on Halloween isn’t candy. It’s inclusion. 🎃💙
