RE: SB279
This is a bill to allow nurse practitioners to practice independently. 27 states already allow this. I am here to ask that you might take two minutes to pick up the phone and call/email these senators to get them to move on this bill that has been sitting idle in committee since the beginning of the year. It took a lot to get it through the house.
I am asking that you, or people you know (who might receive care from an NP) pick up the phone. As a provider in private practice, I have a collaborative agreement on file with a doctor. And I have to pay him. It is becoming unaffordable- it is very difficult to find a doctor that is not 'owned' by an intuition and willing to collaborate.
Many of the doctors that have 'collaborative agreements' for oversight do nothing for patient care that the NPs care for and simply collect a check from the NPs so they can continue to practice.
Please consider picking up the phone or dropping an email to them, urging them to pass SB279. I have been told by the Michigan Counsel of Nurse Practitioners that Michael Webber and a few other Republicans are holding up this bill.
Just a phone call to tell them "NPs should be able to have independent practice authority like 27 other states. VOTE YES ON SB279"
