A heart attack happens when blood flow to the heart is blocked. The person is usually awake and breathing, but may have chest pressure, shortness of breath, nausea, or pain spreading to the arm or jaw.

Cardiac arrest is different. It’s an electrical problem where the heart suddenly stops beating. The person collapses, is unconscious, and isn’t breathing. This is when CPR and an AED need to happen immediately.

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲:
Heart attack = circulation problem.
Cardiac arrest = electrical problem.

A heart attack can lead to cardiac arrest if not treated quickly, which is why acting fast matters.
