DR. JENNIFER GENTILE, PT, DPT
Board Certified Sports Clinical Specialist
Certified, Pelvic Health Physical Therapy
Certified, Pregnancy and Postpartum Physical Therapy

Dr. Jennifer Gentile earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from New York University in 2001 and is licensed as a physical therapist in both New York and New Jersey. The first 10 years of her career were focused in orthopedic and sports physical therapy, at Columbia Sports Therapy and Scerbo Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine. She remains a consultant at Scerbo Physical Therapy & Sports Rehabilitation. In 2014, she was appointed to a core faculty position with the Kean University Doctor of Physical Therapy program, where she primarily teaches content on musculoskeletal and pelvic health physical therapy. She has continued practicing clinically in orthopedics, sports, and pelvic health physical therapy and opened InnerFocus Physical Therapy to address pelvic health issues related to sports participation and pregnancy. She currently works with pregnant and postpartum women for both orthopedic and pelvic floor-related issue, athletes who are experiencing urine leakage, and women with pelvic pain.

In 2015 and 2022 Dr. Gentile earned certifications in Pelvic Health Physical Therapy and Pregnancy and Postpartum Physical Therapy from the American Academy of Pelvic Health (AAPH). As a Board-certified Clinical Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy since 2012, these additional certifications make her uniquely qualified to address pelvic musculoskeletal needs in athletes of all levels. with additional certifications in pregnancy and postpartum physical therapy and pelvic health physical therapy. She is also certified by the Hospital for Special Surgery Rehabilitation for Baseball and the Overhead Athlete and serves in a leadership position for the Sports Special Interest Group for the American Physical Therapy Association of New Jersey. In addition, she has served on the American Academy of Pelvic Health (AAPH) CAPP-Obstetrics Committee, and currently serves the AAPH on their CAPP-Obstetrics Case Review Committee, CAPP-Pelvic Case Review Committee, and the AAPH Health and Wellness Committee. These roles and experiences provide a unique perspective on working with female athletes.

Her clinical interests include sports and pelvic health physical therapy for female athletes and dancers. Dr. Gentile believes that many symptoms in the pelvic floor, such as leaking and or pain, often have contributing factors outside of the pelvic floor. Therefore, she examines the body as a whole to find underlying orthopedic issues that are contributing to the pelvic floor issues. In addition, some individuals with hip or low back pain have contributing factors from the pelvic floor, which she can address due to her unique set of clinical skills. Jennifer has extensive experience in using a biomechanical approach to treat orthopedic issues which is integrated within her practice of pelvic floor physical therapy.

Outside of the clinic, she can be found baking, reading, or attending a swim meet. She participates in several professional committees for both sports and pelvic health physical therapy. Jennifer is the mother of two teenagers, Alexa and Christopher, and one black cat named Lucky, who she parents with her husband Joe. You can also find her nose buried in a textbook because Jennifer is pursuing a second doctoral degree.
