Connecticut Academy of Family Physicians Family Physician: The family physician is a physician who is educated and trained in family medicine - a broadly encompassing medical specialty.

Family physicians provide continuing and comprehensive medical care, health maintenance and preventive services to each member of the familiy regardless of sex, age or type of problem. These specialists are best qualified to serve as each patient's advocate in all health-related matters, including the appropriate use of consultants, health services and community resources.

You're on the front line of opioid care. To support you, the AAFP has created a free CME webinar, "Harm Reduction in Primary Care: Principles, Practice and Partnerships." This one-hour course presents the latest on the use of harm reduction in managing opioid use disorder and shares firsthand accounts of stigma and harm mitigation strategies.

Key topics include:

🔴 Stigma that discourages and limits access to high-quality services

🔴Disparities in health outcomes among marginalized communities

🔴Coordination and integration of activities and services across care systems

🔴Scaling up effective culturally responsive substance use and su***de prevention initiatives

🔴Addressing lack of awareness and stigma regarding effective strategies implementing harm reduction education, messaging and services



Learners will also be invited to continue their education on this important topic by attending a SAHMSA-funded FMX session, as well as an invitation to participate in the On Demand continuation of this activity, launching later in October.
