May's full MOONS are coming up! Yes, you read that right. . . plural! There will be two full Moons in May 2026! 🌕️🌕️

The first full Moon is on Friday, May 1, aptly named the full Flower Moon appearing big and bright on May Day!

The second full Moon will occur on Sunday, May 31, which will be May's full Blue Moon. Ever heard the expression, "once in a blue moon"? Well, this is where it comes from! The second full Moon in any month is always called a Blue Moon, and it only happens every so often 🌕️

🌱 THE TRUTH ABOUT KIDNEY RECOVERY - WHAT IS ACTUALLY POSSIBLE.

This is the question every kidney patient asks - and deserves an honest, clear answer.

Can kidney function improve? YES - in some cases, and under the right conditions.

Here is what the science actually says:

✅ At Stage 1 and Stage 2 - GFR can return to normal with the right lifestyle changes, especially if the root cause (high blood pressure, diabetes, infection) is treated early and effectively.

✅ At Stage 3 - Many patients stabilise their GFR and prevent further decline. Some do see modest improvement, particularly if inflammation is reduced, blood pressure is well controlled, and diet is managed carefully.

⚠️ At Stage 4 - Full recovery is unlikely, but slowing progression significantly is very achievable. Many Stage 4 patients live full, active lives for years without needing dialysis by making the right changes.

⚠️ At Stage 5 - The focus shifts to managing quality of life, preparing for dialysis or transplant, and protecting remaining function for as long as possible.

The most important truth: kidneys are remarkably resilient. They have a reserve capacity and an ability to adapt - but only if you give them the right environment to do so.

What consistently helps across all stages:
🔵 Blood pressure under 130/80
🔵 Blood sugar well controlled
🔵 Low sodium, low phosphorus diet
🔵 Adequate hydration for your stage
🔵 Daily gentle movement
🔵 Quality, consistent sleep
🔵 Stress reduction
🔵 No NSAIDs, no smoking, no alcohol

You are not powerless. Every good choice you make today is protecting the kidney function you still have.
