As the days get shorter, many people begin to feel the impact of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).
About 5% of Americans experience SAD each year, and women are four times more likely to be affected. It’s also more common in northern regions like the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, and New England, where winter daylight is limited.
SAD typically begins in the fall and continues through winter, bringing symptoms such as low mood, loss of interest, increased sleep, carb cravings, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, and feelings of hopelessness or guilt.
If you’ve noticed your mood shifting with the seasons, you’re not alone—and support is available.
