December often pressures us to become someone new, to reinvent, hustle, improve.

But what if becoming isn’t about doing more?

What if it’s about uncovering what’s already there?

This month, we’re choosing a softer path.

A return to self. A remembering. A release of roles and expectations that no longer fit.

Pause. Reflect. Reconnect.

You’re not behind, you’re becoming.

💬 What’s something you’re letting go of as the year ends?

What does it mean to become more you?

This year, Catalyst’s holiday tree invites you to reflect on who you’re becoming, not by doing more, but by releasing what was never really yours to hold.

These ornaments are reminders that becoming isn’t about striving, it’s about returning. Releasing. Rooting deeper into who you already are.

🌲 Come visit the Catalyst Counseling holiday tree in Downtown Bloomingdale, near the corner of Third & Franklin, and experience our “Letter to Self” tradition at the base of the tree.

📬 Not nearby? You can write your letter at the link below and we’ll send it back to you in 2026 as a gentle reminder of who you’re becoming.

Amid the holiday rush, what if you paused to ask:

✨ What do I want to carry forward into the new year?
✨ What can I let go of?
✨ What truth do I want to remember?

This season, our Catalyst Holiday Tree invites you into reflection, not just celebration.

Each ornament is inspired by the theme Changed for Good, with affirmations like:

🌿 Freedom: I step out of roles I never agreed to
🌸 Truth: I choose honesty over perfection

At the base of the tree, you’ll find our Letters to Self station, a gentle invitation to write a message to your future self, to be opened in 2026.

📍 Visit us in Old Town Bloomingdale, right near the plaza on Third Street.

Not local? You can submit your letter through the link below and we’ll send it back to you in the new year 💌

Some things are worth holding onto:

your values, your voice, your vision.

But not everything deserves to go with you into the next season.

Letting go isn’t giving up, it’s making room.

Room for peace.

For clarity.

For the version of you that doesn’t have to carry everything alone.

As the year winds down, ask yourself:
✨ What are you still carrying that no longer feels like yours?
✨ What are you ready to release, gently, intentionally, and without shame?

Both holding on and letting go can be an act of care.

Both can be healing.

🧡 You’re allowed to change. You’re allowed to choose peace.

What’s one thing you’re holding onto, or letting go of, before the year ends?

Tell us below or reflect privately. Either way, it matters.

You’re doing everything “right.”

Work, family, the endless list, all still getting done.

But somewhere along the way, the spark that used to keep you going… dimmed.

That’s often how high-functioning depression shows up.

You’re moving through the motions,

but joy feels just out of reach.

It can look like:

🌙 Feeling numb even when life looks “good”
💭 Guilt for resting or slowing down
💼 Overworking to avoid feeling empty
💔 Losing interest in what once made you come alive

You don’t have to fall apart to deserve care.

And you don’t have to keep performing strength when you’re running on empty.

✨ If this sounds familiar, therapy can help you find your way back to yourself, one small step, one safe space at a time.

Not all leftovers fit in the fridge.

After Thanksgiving, many of us are carrying more than we realize:
• The unfinished goals
• The unspoken needs
• The expectations we never asked for

These emotional leftovers don’t always show up on our calendars, but they take up space—in our minds, in our bodies, and in our days.

If you’re feeling stretched thin as the year winds down, you’re not alone.

And you don’t have to carry it all to cross the finish line.

✨ Take a breath.
✨ Make room for reflection.
✨ Let this be your reminder: your needs matter too.

📝 What’s one emotional “leftover” you’re ready to release before the year ends?

Lately, many women I work with describe feeling deeply sad — yet they’re still showing up to work, parenting, volunteering, managing everyone’s lives.

That’s the tricky thing about high-functioning anxiety and depression:
It doesn’t always look like staying in bed all day.
Sometimes it looks like doing everything… and feeling nothing.

👉 You still make the lunches, answer the emails, hit the deadlines — but you can’t shake the heaviness.
👉 You have ideas and goals, but no bandwidth to bring them to life.
👉 You’re proud of keeping it together, yet quietly grieving that you can’t live life on your own terms right now.

Here’s the truth I remind my clients of:
Anxiety and depression are sister symptoms. When anxiety drives you to overfunction and overperform for too long… the other side of that coin is often a crash — a season of sadness, fatigue, or disconnection.

So if you’re noticing that sadness creeping in as the seasons change, it doesn’t mean you’re failing.
It might just mean your body and mind are asking you to pause.

💛 You don’t need to push harder — you need space to feel again.

Welcome to Catalyst Counseling, LLC!

We specialize in working with people who feel like they are stuck due to past experiences of trauma or loss. When we lose people who are close to us, trust in our relationships or even faith in ourselves, it can become difficult to find hope in the future. Our passion is working with individuals and couples who are fed up and know that something has to change but are not quite sure how to change it. We customize our approaches to meet client needs. Our training includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing and Gottman Couples Therapy.
