Cognitive Control Lab IU Bloomington

Cognitive Control Lab IU Bloomington We are a research group headed by Prof. Joshua Brown at Indiana University Bloomington.

Our mission is to identify and characterize the neural mechanisms of goal directed behavior. We use computational modeling, fMRI, and cognitive psychology to this end.

V**e users needed for study!

Do you use ni****ne-based v**es? Our research investigates the effects of brain stimulation on ni****ne craving and use. You will receive mild electrical brain stimulation for about 2-3 hours while va**ng ni****ne we provide. Participants are randomly assigned to one of three groups: stimulation targeting the nucleus accumbens (a region deep in the brain that helps control motivation and craving), stimulation targeting the anterior insula (a region that helps you notice and manage body sensations and urges), or a sham (control) condition with no active stimulation. You will be asked to fill out questionnaires during the study, daily for the next 7 days, and a final questionnaire 2 weeks after your lab appointment.

This in-person experiment is being done at the IU Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences in Bloomington and at the IU School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana. It will take approximately 2-3 hours on 1 day, plus 5-10 minutes daily for the next 7 days. You must be between 21 and 50 years of age, have at least a 6th grade education, the ability to speak and read English, are not currently in or seeking treatment for ni****ne use, and v**e 15 mg of ni****ne per day (about the same amount of ni****ne as 1-2 ci******es per day).

You will be paid $40 per hour for your participation in this study, up to $55 for completing surveys over the next 7 days, and an additional $10 for completing a 2-week follow-up survey. Email cclab@iu.edu or call (812) 856-1846.

Participants Needed for Psychology Study!

This research investigates the effects of brain stimulation on brain activity and sensations in an MRI scanner. You will enter an MRI scanner for about 2-3 hours for 1 lab session. Your brain will be stimulated for different periods within that time while we measure brain activity and sensations.

This in-person experiment is being conducted at the IU Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences in Bloomington, Indiana and takes approximately 2-3 hours on 1 day. You must be between 18 and 50 years of age, weigh less than 440 pounds, have at least a 6th grade education, the ability to speak and read English, and pass an MRI screening test.

You will be paid $35.00 per hour for your participation in this study. Email cclab@iu.edu or call (812) 856-1846.
