A recent PT grad made me this pretty handmade pipe cleaner flower as a parting gift! Happy clients are the icing on the cake, because helping folks heal their pain and stiffness is its own reward! Love my job!

Neighborhood Update! Our neighbor across the street, Cascades Inn, recently built a trail that connects their parking to the beautiful Lower Cascades Park!

As founder of Patient PT, I both live and work in this neighborhood and I am so excited to have so many neighbors who come together in community with our amazing City of Bloomington, IN - Parks and Recreation department to make our near north side area nicer and more accessible for everyone!

Does it hurt when you sit or after you get up from sitting for a while? Did you know that how you sit can make a BIG difference in how you feel, especially if you spend a lot of time sitting? Oh have we got the class for you!

In the five years since I founded Patient PT I've developed a unique approach to treating chronic pain - finding the "bad habits" of movement and stillness that

Happy Halloween! Here is a throwback pic of me dressed up as something TOTALLY different... an INpatient Physical Therapist for clinical training during PT school. Did you know there are a lot of different kinds of physical therapists?

I specialize in outpatient (meaning the patient lives OUTside the facility) physical therapy and preventative wellness, but here I was working at an inpatient facility where patients are recovering from conditions that require ongoing care and live INside the building, such as a hospital, acute rehab, or skilled nursing facility. It’s hard work and a totally different world of managing patients hooked up to lines and monitors and often dealing with a lot of pain.

Now I know that I struggled so much in my clinical rotations because I am neurodivergent, specifically a Highly Sensitive Person. The high stress, long hours, bright lights, gory sights, and variety of strong smells that come along with Inpatient Care left me a jangled ball of exhausted nerves every day. Can you see how excited I am to leave for work before the sun is up, wearing a uniform that was always too restrictive or too baggy, and go someplace where at any moment I might see or smell something that lives rent-free in my mind for days?

Spoiler: I wasn't excited. I was really struggling. At that time I didn't know that I have an invisible disability. I didn't know that it really *was* harder for me than my colleagues who made it look easy. I thank myself every single day for recognizing that though I couldn't work in that environment, there were people who needed the sort of personalized, education-based, empathetic care that I wanted to offer, and that the only day of the year I pretend to be something I'm not is Halloween. If you haven't had good experiences at other physical therapy clinics because you feel rushed or confused about why and what you're doing, if the pain doesn't get better or only gets worse, if you're doing everything right and still feeling dismissed and forgotten in every session, give Patient PT a try.

Patient PT: Patient-Centered Care

Patient PT owner & founder Kelly Clark is a former persistent-pain patient who understands the frustration and heartache of mis- and missed diagnosis. That’s why she focuses on providing the highest quality, most patient-centered healthcare possible.

Dr. Clark provides hands-on therapy services including massage therapy, physical therapy, and Graston Technique. She also offers her expertise as a Doctor of Physical Therapy by providing comprehensive evaluation, therapeutic exercise prescription, and wellness coaching and evidence-based training programs for flat up-front prices, with no insurance or referral required.

Every appointment takes place one-on-one with Dr. Clark, in the sensory-friendly Patient PT office at Executive Park North. Kelly greets every patient personally from the privacy of her solo-provider practice, and works with them from start to finish to ensure that neither her nor her clients ever miss asking a vital question or double-checking to make sure they understand an exercise or concept that will aid in providing the absolute best patient-centered treatments.

Patient PT keeps overhead low by skipping expensive equipment and passive treatments that people can’t easily replicate at home. That means that despite the fact they do not offer insurance billing, treatment is affordable, focused on getting the best results possible, and equips people with the skills and knowledge they need to manage their wellness independently and for the long haul.
