There are those who practice a profession, and then there are those who shape it. Dr. Greg Kraupa was undeniably the latter. For decades, his name was synonymous with leadership, mentorship and an unwavering commitment to the Minnesota Optometric Association.

Today, as we mourn his passing, we also look back at a legacy that has left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know him or work alongside him.

We're proud to announce Dr. Eric Bailey as our 2026 Optometrist of the Year!

Dr. Bailey, the current Chair of the MN Board of Optometry, has done tremendous work to make it easier for optometrists to complete the licensing process. He is nationally recognized for his work in continuing education accreditation and regulatory innovation, and was instrumental in establishing a public policy committee for the board to protect public health.

Help us congratulate Dr. Bailey on this well-deserved recognition!
