Chiropractic is a branch of health care that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems, and the effects of these disorders on general health. Chiropractors perform gentle adjustments to various joints in the body to restore mobility and improve overall health. Numerous research studies have demonstrated the positive effects of chiropractic care in treating acute and chronic pain. These findings have been cited in various per-reviewed medical, a physiological, and public health journals throughout the U.S. Educational requirements for chiropractors are among the most stringent in the health care prof3essions. A chiropractic student has four years of pre-medical undergraduate college education,. Once accepted into an accredited chiropractic college, the requirement are five additional academic years of study. Chiropractors can diagnose and treat health care problems, as well as refer patients to other health care practitioners when appropriate.
