- Barriers to care that leave individuals and families waiting too long for help
- Rapidly evolving evidence, making it difficult to stay up-to-date
- Complexity of illness, requiring coordinated, multidisciplinary expertise
- Insufficient federal funding, slowing research and limiting policy change
- Inadequate training opportunities, especially for providers in underserved regions
- Lack of standardization across the field, leading to inconsistent care and outcomes
