Many patients can get 5 – 7 years out of a pair of hearing aids. They are, however, still tiny high-tech computers...which means they won’t last forever. But interestingly, while factors like lifestyle and environment might be obvious culprits for declining hearing aid performance, Dr. Natalie McKee, Au.D. explains that sometimes the reason devices ‘stop working’ toward the end of their lifespan is because you’ve changed and those devices simply can’t meet your needs anymore, which is why regular checkups are important.
