At Catholic Charities Bloomington, we use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy to help the brain heal after traumatic events. EMDR works by allowing both sides of the brain to communicate, reducing the fight-or-flight response tied to painful memories.

In October 2025, the Catholic Charities Bloomington Agency (CCB) Council hosted community members at the Hinkle-Garten Farmstead for an afternoon of food, music, and conversation. Guests toured the historic property and learned how Catholic Charities makes mental health care accessible in Bloomington and surrounding areas.

Thanks to the council's hard work and the generosity of attendees, more than $25,000 in donations and pledges were raised to support CCB's services for children and youth in 2026.

As the days get shorter and the temperatures drop, it’s normal to feel a little low or sluggish—sometimes called the “winter blues.” For many, this season can bring stress, anxiety, or sadness.

At Catholic Charities Bloomington, we provide support and counseling to help you navigate these challenges and maintain your mental well-being. Even small steps—like talking with a trusted counselor, connecting with friends or family, or practicing self-care—can make a big difference.

Remember: reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. You don’t have to face the winter blues alone.
