CPR BTown was honored to train the first installment of team members from Monroe County CASA, Inc. Indiana and the Jewish Theatre of Bloomington in First Aid/CPR! These organizations serve our community in powerful ways, and we’re grateful they chose to strengthen their safety readiness with us.

This training was made possible thanks to the Monroe County Council through the Sophia Travis Grant, which helps local nonprofits access lifesaving skills and preparation.

Lack of exercise, a poor diet and other unhealthy habits can take their toll over the years. But anyone at any age can take simple steps to keep their heart healthy during every decade. Here’s how.

‘Tis the season for celebration — and also a time to be mindful of your heart.

The holidays can bring extra stress, richer foods, higher alcohol intake, and disrupted routines. Together, these can contribute to Holiday Heart, a condition where people experience irregular heart rhythms, even without a history of heart issues.

As you enjoy time with loved ones, be sure to watch for the warning signs of a heart attack:

Chest pressure, tightness, or pain
Pain in the arm, back, neck, or jaw
Shortness of breath
Nausea or lightheadedness
Sudden fatigue or cold sweats

If something feels “off,” don’t wait. Call 911 immediately. Quick action saves lives.
Take care of yourself this season — slow down, stay hydrated, and listen to your body. Your heart will thank you.

We were thrilled to welcome the incredible team from Bloomington Center for Global Children to a CPR/First Aid course with CPR BTown. Their mission — to nurture children in a safe, diverse, and globally-minded learning environment — shines through in everything they do. By choosing to strengthen their emergency preparedness skills, they’re taking yet another meaningful step to protect the children and families they serve every day.

We’re also deeply grateful to the Monroe County Council for making this training possible through Sophia Travis Grant funding. Their support helps ensure that vital, life-saving skills are accessible to organizations across our community.

Thank you, BCGC, for your dedication to safety, compassion, and global citizenship. And thank you, Monroe County Council, for investing in a safer Bloomington.

We loved having board members from All-Star Imagination in class this week! They took the important step of completing First Aid/CPR certification, made possible through funding from the Sophia Travis Grant provided by the Monroe County Council.

This training is more than just a certification — it directly supports All-Star Imagination’s mission to create safe, supportive spaces where children can learn, explore, and grow. By equipping their leadership with lifesaving skills, they’re ensuring that every child they serve is surrounded by adults who are prepared, confident, and ready to act in an emergency.

Huge shout-out to All-Star Imagination for prioritizing safety and to the Sophia Travis Grant Committee for investing in the well-being of our community.
